Do I like it when people buy up things just to sell them at a profit? No. Is there anything I can do about it? No. Do I worry about it then? No.

Sometimes there's a limit of one or two on an Ex. If the limit is two, then the person is allowed to buy two and they are within their rights to do with the second one what they want. If they're using multiple accounts, then I agree that's wrong but unless you take it up with Sideshow, there isn't a whole lot you can do about it.

Once again, Do I worry about it? No. Just makes you crazy. :)

I am not obnoxious.
I am not petty. I am not priggish.

You most definitely are all of the above. The fact that you had to address each one (with definitions) just proves it.

Redundant? Ok, I am indeed redundant.

Understatement of this decade.

Scalping bothers me a lot. The fact that no one else seems to discourage it or say anything against it to me puts me in the position of being responsible for taking action, because I feel that if something needs to be done, and no one else will do it, then I have to.

I like to see justice done. I don't feel right about letting it go, because that means giving up on justice, and giving up on the world, and that is an extremely depressing notion.

So, you are the self-appointed savior of the collecting community now? I'm sure there are many much more important social ills you could put this energy towards instead of :horse

You cannot say that scalping is 100% acceptable unless you view it as a positive, all of the time, for you to pay their prices.

There are no absolutes. Nothing is right or wrong ALL OF THE TIME.

We are talking about scalping. I am saying that someone should not buy something and then sell it higher than SSC sells it for. SSC sets the price, not the buyer.

SSC, like any other company, sets the SRP and that's it. The market will, and always has, dictate the current price. Sometimes it's higher that SRP and sometimes it's lower.

Blackthornone, just a hypothetical question here. Say you have a readily available collectible you bought for say 100 bucks. Some rich dude sees it and says how he just has to have it. He offers you 200 bucks for it. Do you stand by your principles and tell him where he can get one or are you a hypocrite who takes the money, pockets a 100 bucks and reorders the collectible. With your reasoning, a man who bought a Corvette in 68 and kept it mint, who goes to sell it should, should price it at the same price he got it for 42 years ago. That would be foolish wouldn't it?

not sure what i feel about scalping, but its pretty irrelevant these days as it seems 99% of Sideshow product they release these days is available for less than retail only a few months later.

Most of their customers are extremely fickle and are more like renters when it comes to their collection. So if you miss on something you wanted, just wait 6 months and you'll probably get it for less! The people losing money on their SSC collection far outweighs anyone gaining on it (at least for product released in the last few years).

The ones making the most off Sideshow product is Fed Ex and UPS. They probably profit more on a Sideshow item than Sideshow themselves! between it being shipped to the original buyer and then back and forth 3 or 4 times during its life :lol

So, you've already destroyed your evil, cancer inducing cell phone?:monkey5

I sure have! I have also determined that the goverment is rotting our brains with flouride and that there are chem trails everywhere. They are doing this to control us (sheep). I am also of the belief that UFO's are actually fallen angels and Chuck Missler is the Messiah. :lecture I can SEE!

Ok, this "debate" has remained mostly civil so far, but some of you guys are determined to derail it. Please stick to the topic and remain civil and the thread will remain open...

I don't see why this is even up for debate to be honest Lonnie. :lol Every time you buy something in a store they are making a profit. They are buying items from a vendor and increasing the price. That's how commerce works. :lecture They don't buy something and turn around and sell said product lower to you out of the kindness of their hearts. My what a world that would be. :lol

EXACTLY, it is no different in my eyes.

Well...in all fairness are you a store? Do you pay taxes on the income you make like a store does? Are you able to buy at wholesale prices like a store does?

Stores help increase the reach off the manufacturer. A scalper doesn't.

Then you have all the goodwill (business sense) aspects of how people view a retailer vs a scalper.

I'm not passing judgement, but lets not pretend a collector scalping to another collector is the same as a retailer.
