So I'm putting this thread up, mostly because I'm an idiot, in hopes that someone would have a 4-day pass that I could buy off of them. I would gladly pay retail + $ for it. Didn't think it would sell out and was waiting until I got some more money to pay for it. Thanks.

Got you covered.

I'm gonna start calling Adam 'Superman'. He always comes to the rescue

Any of you guys know how they'll handle it now that they dont offer the 3-day pass, and all we're left with is single day passes? The last thing I want to do is line up every day to get my day pass. It would be nice to get the appropriate passes the first time I fall in line for it.

Thats what I'm going to have to do ... I got passes for friday and saturday only ... I was waiting for next check, then :horror there were all gone ... $115 if you try to get all days ... too much for my blood.

Yeah, I feel your pain... I had to buy each day separately too. I didn't think I was going to be able to go and suddenly I was able.. So I had to take what was available. :monkey2

I'm hoping they do it like it was handled at Celebration III. If you got the individual days, you just showed up the first day... gave your name and they pulled you up on the computer and gave you all of your passes.

Oh I hope so ... would save a lot of time then seeing the same people in line day after day.

I would hope that's how it works as well. I remember my first Comic-Con (in 2002) I had to buy my passes there and it was a PAIN. The line was HUGE and back in 2002 the crowd was nothing compared to what it's been in the last few years so I can only imagine how much worse that line wait it. :horror:horror

I always buy my pass for the next Comic-Con right at the con or right after the con so even if I don't go I at least have my pass. A few years ago the passes didn't sell out and they didn't rise up in price so quickly so now you have to jump on them even if your not sure you can go or not.

The Con has gotten so big in the pass years. I member when you could just show up and get you passes there ... theres no way of doing that now ... last year I was only able to go for one day cuz they sold out so fast ... even though I was last for the 4 day pass this year, I'm happy I got friday and saturday

Yeah, it's amazing how huge some of the conventions have gotten. I remember standing in line for 4 hours to get in to CIII, in the cold rain, simply because that day was the day George Lucas was going to be there.... It was HORRID. That convention was poorly handled in every conceivable way....

I've never been to SDCC, but I can imagine it won't be any LESS crowded than CIII was. I'm sure it will be a hundred times larger and therefore more aggravating than that was. :banghead

You'll know what a sardine feels like. No joke. I hope you are a people person. It is litterally shoulder to shoulder people down the walkways and only slightly better at actual booths like Sideshow's.

But honestly, no prepairing can truely prepair you. You just have to live through one to truely understand.

The convention center would honestly be the perfect terrorist target since it would take out so many people with so little explosives. It would make a great 24 season!

...its wise not to arrive when it first opens...everyone arrives at that time...there is plenty of time to suck in the views and browse...:monkey1

:lol Yeah, I know what you mean.

And thankfully Brant... I lived in Japan, so crowded areas don't bother me. Can't be much worse than Tokyo at 5pm. I actually thrive in crowds and I have inhuman patience, thanks to the military. So I am sure I will be fine... Just hope I can get my passes quickly enough.

Oh just you wait.

There are ways to get less annoyed though (at least I found a few ways).

-Getting to the convention right when it opens is nice since it really is less crowded when you get into the actual exhibitors hall at 10am. It will stay pretty nice for at least an hour or so, after that it will just start to fill up more and more as the day goes on. Plus, if you're into freebies the opening time of the exhibitors hall can be the best time to grab some. If you wait you'll just be fighting crowds of people to get to them later on.

-Getting into the exhibitors hall right when it opens does involve having to wait in a large crowd of people in front of the convention center. Sometimes you can get up to the Sails Pavillion or just inside the convention center which will give you some relief from the bigger crowd outside.

-If they have the movie and TV studios set up in the same area again it will be wall to wall people. It's best to stay away from that area for most of the convention unless you like have to shove and be shoved.

-It's easier to walk around the exhibitors hall solo. I go to the convention with friends every year but walking around with another person (or more) just causes issues I find. Of course, that's just my own personal preference. Plus, as a solo person it's easier to navigate a big crowd. If you're with other people you're constantly having to see if you've lost them.

-If you're interested in getting any autographs on the exhibitors floor you will need to find out well enough in advance when and where they are happening. Most of the time autographs and done by raffle, have to have lined up in time before a line cut off time or gotten a ticket in advance. There are lots of autographs to be had for free but you have to know how to work it to get them.

-If you're planning on getting a sketch from a comic artist and such you'll be waiting in very long wait lines (which is to be expected of course).

-Preview night and Sunday have gotten to be busier days but they aren't as bad as Thurs, Fri and Sat. But perhaps that will change this year. Preview night used to be so laid back and now it's becoming packed.

-Get to panels at least a panel ahead of time. Hall H is the big hall where all the big movie panels happen and it will fill up, so getting to the panel you want to see at least 30 minutes (or more) ahead of time will ensure you can at least get in. Ballroom 20 does a lot of big programming as well (mostly for TV now) and it will fill up so you have to get there early to see panels. All the rest of the smaller panels are hit and miss with capacity.

Don't get me wrong. Comic-Con is so much fun. The crowd issues are very annoying though, but fun can still be had if you just pace yourself and know the areas to avoid if possible during the busy times of the day.:banana:banana

The panels are very hard to predict. Some are easy to get into and some are surprisingly hard. I was actually shocked by the line for Sideshow's last time. The guards kept saying we wouldn't get in, but we did. Go figure. Hall H is HUGE! I haven't had a hard time getting a seat though, but they are usually in the back, which is fine because of the screens. Most of the time I'm just happy to be in the room.
