The panels are very hard to predict. Some are easy to get into and some are surprisingly hard. I was actually shocked by the line for Sideshow's last time. The guards kept saying we wouldn't get in, but we did. Go figure. Hall H is HUGE! I haven't had a hard time getting a seat though, but they are usually in the back, which is fine because of the screens. Most of the time I'm just happy to be in the room.

I've had many occasions where I couldn't get into a panel (and it's either been with hall H or ballroom 20). Because of the problems I've had in the past I always go at least 30 minutes or more ahead of time for a panel.

I do remember the year they did a Bruce Campbell panel in a room that held only 100 people. Yeah, that was smart. The line of people hoping to get in was HUGE and I never did get into it.

It's true they are hard to gauge but I already know the ones that will always have a big draw are...WB panel, Kevin Smith, Futurama, Joss Whedon and any highly buzzed movie.

I've never been to SDCC, but I can imagine it won't be any LESS crowded than CIII was. I'm sure it will be a hundred times larger and therefore more aggravating than that was. :banghead

Its gonna be like that except at least 10-15x worse. :lol

Last year it was so damn crowded its not even funny. I can't explain it any better than it already has been but damn people need to shower.

oh yes ... please ... I try my best, please do the same ... lol

:lol Just bring some spray cologne and spray people...

Well, thankfully... I learned my lesson about making sure I am there ahead of time for panels and such. I was a stickler for that at CIII, I felt like I was coordinating a battle at the time. Like some deranged field general...

"Alright men... Some of you may not make it out alive... but we have to make a break for Hall B if we want to get through this..." :rotfl

The crowd problem has gotten so bad, I still can't believe how many people can be shoved into that convention center :lol

As everyone has said, you can't imagine it unless you experience it. CAHobbit, all your "advice" is spot on! Over the years I've had over at SDCC I've followed those rules. Just to add on a couple....

ALWAYS bring poster tubes for free posters. Ran into that problem the first year I was there, now I always bring a few posters tubes (they can fill up quickly, haha)

No joke!!! ... reminds me to go get a new one ... the one I have is to big and is for big art work (had it for school) ... need a smaller one.

Good advice on the tubes, I will be sure to bring a few just in case. I love free posters. :lol

Really, I'm just happy to be able to go. I never get to do anything or go anywhere... so I need to get out of my collection room and have fun. Damn the crowds, I'm just glad to be free of the painting desk for a few days. :D

Great suggestion. I've had so many free posters smashed due to the constant heavy items going on top of them. Even the giant superman bag they gave out last year couldn't save one.

This your first time going? And on the tubes, remember to get ones large enough to fit 27'' x 40'' posters. If there was one thing I hated at the Con it was having poster tubes a few inches too small. Then when I'd get home the bottom half of a poster was bent up, hate that! haha.

Were You Staying Da

I was going regardless, so I had room for a drinking buddy and I offered it to Josh, he accepted. Actually, should be pretty sweet. Thursday and friday night are a little far away, will have to cab it, but Saturday and Sunday night are within a couple of blocks of the place; harbor lights or something like that. I'm just a bit bummed that I'm going to miss preview night. But four days should be enough, I hope.

I have no idea what to expect being an SDCC virgin myself, but I'm really looking forward to it.

oh yeah ... know the feeling ... I forget to take a tude and have to put everything in my the big STARWARS bag that I get at the con ... you know the ones that everyone ask you where you got it (if you been to the Con) ... great bag but bad for poster.

Big ups to you Mesa... for helping me out there... It's going to be awesome, I can't freaking wait. :drink :chug :duff

I'm just glad I'll have someone to hang with. Like I said, I was prepared to do it all solo, but if I can find a few people to party with while I'm there, all the better.
