Most of the statues are available at their release date and after, if not from Sideshow, then from other retailers. Unless you're dead-set on the exclusive version, I don't think there's any need to fall for the whole "pre-order" stuff.

Scar, didn't we already determine that true academics can't afford anything so frivolous? How much are they giving you to slay those turkeys, exactly?

True, and there will be no shortage of Dinosauria products over the coming year on which you may use the coupon. It's to your preference.

Not enough, that's for damn sure. But enough that this individual can still afford the Dinosauria pieces. I know a lot of academics whom I know who have placed orders for these purchased a few statues but had to cancel other orders both for reasons of money and space. Some are in it for the long haul, but others have to be more choosey. I stand by those three groupings.

If only as a matter of storage and display piece, these statues eat up everything. My Carnegie Collection is essentially complete after a decade or so, and already Sideshow's Dinosauria threatens to surpass it in terms of required real estate.

This Deinosuchus is more vertically built however, so I suppose there's some potential for it to squeeze in somewhere.

Mine will have to stay boxed until after the move...and maybe longer than that if I can't afford new shelves. And all that is assuming I can afford it in the first place. We collectors lead hard lives.

For me it's just making up your mind what you prefer I guess.. I've ditched a lot to make space for these guys and will continue to do so..not sure just how far I'll go yet removing old collection pieces. My dino collection was mostly made up of smaller old figures and then Jurassic Park items...if I could avoid building dioramas for everything I'd be fine space-wise..lol

I tend to get more selective when space gets tight. Right now I still have plenty but I'm also a firm believer in long term planning. As much as I like the dios, my personal preference remains with the stand-alone pieces. Unless a dio really hits one out of the park for me, I can so far reassure myself that there'll be room for more of the maquettes. I hope to be with Dinosauria for the long haul and to demonstrate my faith in this line I actually gave away my Rogue comicquette as an Xmas gift to someone - not necessarily to make room but to accomodate the predominantly paleotheme of my collection - including kits I've built over the years.

Talked to SS reps today...they said I dont qualify for an originals coupon because I had my T-rex on flex pay for 2 days before I told them to charge it and ship it. What a freaken rip off...a little one sided in my opinion.

I've been really tempted to turn my modeling skills toward Dino kits..but I kept holding off and now thanks to Dinosauria I don't really have a budget for them..but it's a good trade off.

I'm still surprised that these dios are not selling out sooner - even in their exclusive editions. With edition sizes of only 100-200 each it's intriguing to note that all three dioramas are still available to order in their exclusive editions (whereas all the exclusive maquettes are sold out). Is the market for these dios really that much smaller than the maquettes?

I notice that the ES for the Allosaurus piece is being held open for the time being. If the take up for the Deinosuchus piece is so small (not even 100 Exclusives sold), what's the chances that the ES for the Allosaurus could be equally small -- or even smaller?

This impressive line doesn't seem to be getting much love from collectors for some reason.

It's gaining rapid momentum, trust me. Often I'll have a customer come back to me and say "Wow, this Dinosauria statue is gorgeous. Let me know when the newest one arrives!"

I think that when or if the next Jurassic Park movie comes out, we will start to see more interest in this line. People will get all hiped up about dinosaurs again, hopefully.

I think there are quite a lot of dino fans who would absolutely love to own these beautiful statues, but the high prices and the display space issues are probably the main reason that's keeping folks from actually buying them....
