Well it looks like I am going to be able to go after all! Thanks to some persistance and with the help of fellow Freaks!

So I figured I would start up a question and answer thread so some of you vets can tell us new guys things to look out for and tips and such.

So....Spill your guts guys! :lol

But if you want to see some action and need a cab.....wait on a street with 3 to 4 cabbies at a red light. When the light turns green, wave for one. It's awesome watching em all race for the curve and eventually cuss and argue and with each other. :rock :lol

BATTLE OF THE CABBIES! :rock

Cool! They do that in New York too! Those guys are fearless! :lol

Maybe this guy will be there and he can show me where to find three breasted hookers. :lol

And if you get REALLY bored just look for Lonnie. He'll be the one with binoculars watching the Sideshow girls, he likes it when you throw peanuts at him.

I'm somewhat of a noob myself, I've only been to last year's ComicCon,
but here are a few things I noticed:

- Arrive early

- If you use the Trolley, buy the Day pass, it's cheaper than single use passes... or try the 3 day pass as well.

- If you want to get into a panel or buy an exclusive,
be prepared to be in line anywhere from 1 hrs to 3 hrs... at least...

- Eat outside of the Convention Center, you'll find better food with better prices,
you can try Horton Plaza, it's a mall so you'll find all kinds of food, better than a $10.00 slice of Pizza at the Convention center...

- Don't stare at all the weirdos you'll see there... some might become violent.... :rotfl

- If you go to the Freaks party, stay until late, I missed all the fun by leaving early... :(

Really people get mad if you stare at them? That is why the dress up correct? It is the only time a year they can let their nerd out. :lol

Some quick tips (for now)....

Things to bring:

-Backpack

-Poster tube (something that can be held in your backpack or if you want to get fancy, and actual holder with a strap). This is if you're into collecting posters (there are A LOT given away at SDCC), if it's not your thing then omit bringing one.

-Comfy shoes

-Snacks, lunch (unless you have no problem with expensive con food). There's a Ralph's market within walking distance of the convention center, so food costs for breakfast, lunch, snacks can be cut way down.

-Items to have autographed (obviously see what guests will be there, along with what movies/TV/books are being promoted to gauge what you will bring). Of course this is only if you're an autograph person.

A few things to expect...

-LONG lines - the most popular panels will have people lining up hours in advance.

-HUGE crowd - the exhibitors hall can be wall to wall people (especially where they bunch up the TV/movie studio booths.

-Not being able to get into a panel you want. This doesn't mean it's entirely hopeless though, as some of the time they will continue to let people in 10 to 15 min. after a panel has started (since people always leave panels while they are still in progress this will allow new people having a chance to get in). A thing to also be prepared for are the line monitors (ie: the hired 'security' for the con) that will tell those that didn't get into a panel to disperse, but just hand around casually and you might get into the panel you really want to see.

-Free stuff! Junky but sometimes cool stuff (keychains, pins, pens, etc.), posters, trading cards, comics, etc! Advance movie screenings (though you'll have to find out where to get a pass for them as they handed out at various booths, by exhibitor hall roamers or at panels. And you have to line up for the advance movie screenings at least an hour in advance most of the time as more passes are given away then actual theater seats).

POSTER TUBEs!!!!!

If you plan on buying artwork which is very difficult to resist. Get a poster tube early and save yourself the dog ears and wrinkles on any pricey artwork. :lecture

DRINK!!!!!

Like CA Hobbit said, backpacks! Plenty of alcohol shops by the Con. Purchase your bottles, place them in the backpack, and up into the hotel you go.

Great for PRE-DRINKING AND OR A AFTERPARTY! :rock

I DON'T ALWAYS DRINK BEER, BUT WHEN I DO. I DRINK.............IRRESPONSIBLY!

- The most interesting Board Member on the boards. :monkey5

Actually IrishJedi is the most interesting. He knows Adam Hughes.:rotfl:joy :lol
