or stop by an ATM before the con...
even though lots of vendors take cards, it's always useful to carry some cash,
that will also make yourself a little more cautious on your spending...
I always make a list of things I'm looking for to buy at the Con, and have some extra for unexpected deals...

I used to think I'd like to go, but not so much anymore. Not a big fan of huge crowds and what seems like mass chaos.

I hate crowds, and I used to think SDCC was "just another Con"
but... Last year I went there for the first time and even with all the craziness,
it is so much fun that I can't wait for the next one!!

• bring a backpack for the loot
• comfortable shoes
• there is a Long's Drugs about a block away that you can buy drinks and withdrawal money.
• My wife always packs sub sandwiches so we don't have to eat at the grill
• make sure your camera's battery is charged
• If you want to see a panel or get a major signature, get there several hours early at least.
• The Star Wars actors/actresses charge out the wazoo for a signature (what was Mark Hamil $90?)
• If all the panels are not a big deal, Sunday is the best day to go as it is less crowded (that is when we always go)
• The 'good' SDCC exclusives usually sell out on Friday, so expect to pay a premium if you go after that; avoid the shopping booths in the middle of the day
• Avoid staring at the Suicide Girls booth or they will embarrass you
• Don't stare at the multiple Playboy Bunnies getting pictures of their crotch autographed
• Avoid the video game & G4 section altogether, it is cram packed and not really anything interesting enough to brave that crowd
• PLEASE WEAR DEODORANT!!!

Another trick, if your on an airline that doesnt charge you per bag and plan to buy things pack two bags even if you are way under weight or capacity of the bag allowing you room for all your stuff, you can also stash a duffel bag or something like that in one of the bags so you have a bag you can carry on. You can always ship your stuff back but if you allow for extra room you may be able to avoid extra bag/weight changes and not have to ship as much if any stuff.

Can't make (afford) it this year, but this sums up the con very nicely. It's amazing how many stereotypes are alive and kicking at SDCC.

It's true--last year, a guy who was being chased by security ran up and gave me a handful of cocaine, so I put it in my emergency condom, tied it off and swallowed it. I was able to retrieve it later and made a pretty good profit getting rid of my Comic Con souvenir on the secondary market.

Don't stare with your mouth open, gag, then laugh out loud in front of the 300 pound Slave Leia. Try to keep yourself together until you dash outside.... THEN you can have hysterics for as long as you want.

Cell phone..and arrange to exchange phone #s with a coupla a trusty friends. ONLY way to link up sometimes.

For many, the Sideshow booth is home base. (Although it's become very very busy in the last few years). Don't forget to tell the guys hi and tell them you're a Freak.

Deodorant. (and a shower every once in a while wouldn't hurt)

Hall H is for the big movie panels (Friday pm and all day Saturday) and some of the big geek-loved TV shows. Prepare to stay in there once you're in.....if you pop out and try to come back a coupla hours later, you'll wind up in Line Hell. Have a buddy or two with you in line...that way, you can take turns getting something to eat/drink while you're waiting.

Pick two or three panels you can't live without, then plan all other activities around them.....to include 1-2 hours in line beforehand to get in.
