For a 12" JABBA?

the jaws statue is about the same size jabba would need to be. and they'd also need to do the throne and the food bowls, pillows, etc....

maybe they could make him rotocast and save money?

it could be sold as a high end statue in 1/6th scale so it could be used for the 12 inch line or a stand alone display piece.

A 12" JABBA, hmm, I would guess $65 and another $25 for crumb and if they did both I would buy both...

i really doubt they could do jabba for $65.

sculpting that body, and the size required to make him 1/6th scale would be at least $150, and that's if he was plastic, not polystone.

But Jabba won't be polystone, right? Plastic won't be that expensive.

No, I really don't think so but you never know, developing a special one-off body for one figure with full rubber body may not be economically feasible. Jabba may not be rubber but he won't be polystone IMO, perhaps because he just mostly sits like a slug (I know) he may have some simpler base with articulating arms, tongue and eyes maybe.

I think back to how he was designed for the film and he was basically a puppet tent with two operators inside (arms and tail)...

What about Jaws? I could see Jabba's body being quite similar to the Jaws Sideshow made.

No customizing clothes, that saves a bunch of production cost right there and if they came up with a way of covering a rubber suit over a simple egg-shaped design body, I don't know, I'm just saying the original puppet was fairly simple so maybe there is a way to do it at a decent price point...

I think there were more than just two, they had several midgets inside.

Several? I remember in the DVD seeing one cranking the tail and another doing the arms inside? May have been more but most of the puppeteers were outside the puppet as I remember. Point is, the actual design of the puppet body and tail was quite simple...

The Jabba "tail-midget" is perhaps one of my favorite moments of the Star Wars making of film. I think he is one of the guys from Time Bandits, and he describes the motive behind the movements of Jabba's tail, talking of his moods, while saying "backwards and forwards" in the strangest British accent.

Oh man and I thought I was the only one who laughed at that from SW to Jedi. Too funny, "backwords and forewords" as the little dude pronounced it.

Yeah, watch "From Star Wars to Jedi" making of a saga or something to that effect. There is a funny English midget talking about how he operates Jabba's tail and his mood.

Man, I love Wikipedia!!

Does that mean the rumors are true...1/6 scale Jabba the Hutt????!!!!

I just jumped into this thread, but Sith Lord, you must have the sinlge-biggest brain the Universe! That is some amazing de-jumbleing!!! But would Sideshow really be releasing a 1/6 Jabba? It would be cool, but I will be uber-depressed if it costs hundreds of dollars... but on the plus side with pre-orders I have enough time to sell-off organs to afford it :monkey4

I just think it great the Rebelscum doesn't even have a clue what is coming :lol I would have thought they'd have a thread by now.

It was posted over there, but its been pretty dead, I don't think anyone even noticed it... I did, but then I headed over here to see what was really up!

If he is done right, I can't imagine him costing less than $300. I hope I am wrong though. But basically, Jabba is the size of a PF. And we all know how much PFs go for. I also only want Jabba if he is articulated at his tail, torso, arms, wrists, mouth, and eyes. Don't you guys want to be able to close his eyelids to reenact the Han and Leia reuniting scene? Also, because his eyes would be so large, it would be nice if we could move them from side to side.

All great points JL, I guess if we're gonna get one we want all of that, question is how to do that for a decent price point. SSC is famous for pulling off stuff like this, at least some of their monsters were unique and groundbreaking in design and application.

I'm wondering if SSC maybe got together with the LucasFilms prop/creature shop to figure out a simple way to make this work...

Looking good, guys.

I believe Tom asked to buy a vowel...

Here's a(n updated) hint about one of them...
