Wish there was a kit without the headsculpt. Just the accessories and shoes. I really want to get a set but way out of my budget for now :(

I know how you feel BM. I really want those shoes, but have 2 canes, he never wears an I.D badge, and the Ruben is just fun, not a fundamental part of House. The pill bottle is awesome though.

I think I might go for, emphasis on the MIGHT--Serang's unpainted House sculpt for that $65 tag. It's a shame a whole complete set is $900 because it that motorcycle and motorcycle really necessary when it can be sold separately? I'm still new to these boards and moreso to buying custom sculpts, so my question is since I'm not very good at painting, who on these boards are painters of custom heads? And are their prices reasonable?

The motorcycle's not included, even in the $900 set.

That sucks for whoever is thinking of getting the $900 set, hope they read the order descriptions carefully in their case.

The steep price is a little depressing, I would have bought his whole set up motorcycle or not if it had been $150-200 at most but it's not worth $900. I'm new with this but really it's not too hard to find the clothes and body I think, just his other small details like pill bottles, the leather jacket, the canes, those cool custom shoes, but still it's definitely not worth $900. Sorry.

You're paying more of a premium for the limited nature of a custom item like this. Gruff Old Bear said it best regards to Rainman's customs in the GBU thread:

I think some people here are just discovering the difference between collecting figures and collecting artists. Rainman's marketing practice is similar to what is done in other areas of fine arts, such as photography or sculpture. It may be that, since most of the work we discuss on this forum is work-for-hire, you didn't realize what kind of world you'd entered, but if you bought one of the 20 signed Gunman figures, I think, as Zuno says, that in time you'll discover that you made a wise investment, because Rainman's reputation will continue to grow. His signed, limited editions will increase in value, the kits less so.

Still...$900, man. >_____<;

I think I'm understanding now that this hobby may not be completely 100% for me, since I'm so goddamn cheap, guess I'll just have to keep hunting around for deals that suit my wallet but hey I'm okay with that too. I'm envious of whoever manages to get funds together for the set ;______;

Even kitbashing can get pretty pricey gathering all the parts and lining up a painter. If the prices are turning you off you might want to wait it out for Triad Toy's upcoming 1/6 House line they announced a while ago. It should run under a 100$ for an entire figure from Triad.

** speaking of which, I hope that set comes with a decent pair of sneakers somewhere close to the quality and 'House-i-ness' of Serangs.

I just wish i knew if I was gonna get my Chris Howes House head. I still prefer Chris', but if its between no House head and Serang's, I will take Serang's in a heart beat. But if I know for a fact I am gonna get my head from Chris,which I have already paid for, I will stick with his. Money is getting tight for me again, and I dont want to have to shell out another $100, which is what Serang's will cost me after I get it painted.

Wait it out King. Howes really dropped the ball with communication and may have burnt some bridges but I bet he will deliver the heads.

Really? Thanks for the tip! =)

I never thought the motorcycle was included.

And you do have to think of these as art pieces, not custom figures. Kojun will get much more than this for his pieces and people pay it, because it's an investment in art rather than just picking up a figure of a character you happen to like.

I don't completely understand it but I guess you're right and so I hope I haven't offended anyone because I know for so many on these boards this is a true lifelong passion and I've a mere newbie just barely starting compared to so many here--but my admiration and care for these pieces whether dished out by licensed companies or private sculptors does have limits financially......and you know I also have limits because of personal space in my room. :lol

I do get all starry-eyed when I look to my left and there is my Detolf Made of Awesome with some of the few collectibles I have. Still beautiful art has its limits for me and $200 is my maximum whether it be 1 of kind or 1 of 10,0000 available.

You not offeneded anyone!:lol

I'm sure if Kim made 10000 of this figure then he can sell for $150/$200

But he's not, he is doing all himself.

I'm not an artist but a dealer and I have Serang on my team working on Brad Pitt 'Aldo the basterd' and I'm getting to know how hard it is to get things sorted, Its not easy getting a limited figure out.

As Darklord say - its art and depending on what artists, its an investment.

If your new then if you do some digging around, you will find some prices that will make your eyes water - eg HaRue suit for over $500, YJ Project Manji for $1100 or Kojuns Carlito for $1400 - ALL by artist

If you can wait 12 - 18 months I'd pick up House from Triad - they recently announced that they have the licence. It will likely be about $US100 for a complete figure.

*EDIT: Just saw KBA beat me to it.

I was never into static pieces, then the Sideshow PFs got me into them and that raised the price I was willing to pay for this kind of stuff. Now I pay the same prices for HT 1/6 figures that I paid for the first PFs. Then I got my first Cinemaquette and the threshold limit on spending jumped dramatically. Now I don't even blink at dropping $500 on a PF. This will be the first 1/6 I've paid over $500 for though.
