I googled for the medi ones, and it seems better than the SHF ones. The lips aren't red, which might be the reason why it looks better, closer to the photo SHF.

Now, don't get mad at me because I know the Medicom figures are popular here but imo, they are really really bad. The head sculpt has the eyes wrong, the nose looks bad because of the fact that they put the individual nostrils on it, the hair is extremely flat and not accurate, and the worst part is the fact that it has actual clothes. Clothes on a figure simply make it look cheap and hinder movement. Especially the belt on the thing. It looks like cheap fabric and the colors don't match. Their Naruto is almost spot on though while SH Figuarts' Naruto looks absolutely terrible.
Edit: And if I had to choose the best head sculpt that isn't SH Figuarts's proto one, I'd choose this one for sure:
And back to my original question, is there a way to get it repainted or any way at all to get the type of figure shown in the prototype image?

The SH Figuarts Sasuke Uchiha finally arrived today after a long delay due to the port strikes. BBTS shipped him 4 days ago and arrived today, in case anyone ordered through them. The figure itself is really amazing, a few steps above the Naruto release. I was a little concerned over the ongoing complaints/uncertainty from people making judgments from photos (and, again, their Naruto release, but in person I'm stoked! Hopefully the delayed announcement for the next figure doesn't mean the end of the line!

Hold on, that actually looks like the prototype. Is it possible to take up-close pictures of the figure's face? Seems like you got lucky because the mouth is thin as it should be and the hair is actually sculpted well (the end points are actually sharp instead of round). Also, I ordered my Sasuke back on October 9th from MHToy Shop yet it's still not here. In fact, they haven't even shipped it. I asked why and they said there was a strike but it's over now.

It resembling the proto was my first thought. BBTS had a few of my preorders scheduled for January/February, and Sasuke just arrived yesterday. I'm still waiting on DBZ Android 16 with no "item has arrived at our warehouse" notification. I'll take a couple close up shots once I'm home from work. Again, the figure looks great.

So, upon further inspection in daylight, and actually taking him out of the box, the figure is less impressive, but still very awesome. He's not at all yellow, his skin tone is fine. But his lips are indeed more red than not. I took a few photos and made a small album here on imgur. The images are highres so you can zoom in. His hair looks awesome in my opinion, his sharingan eye detail is pretty sweet, but the default non-sharingan head piece is pretty lame. Other than that, his body pieces are very well colored/shaded/detailed (as expected), the chidori piece is cool looking, and lots of hand options.
In my opinion, it's a superior figure to the medicom release if displayed with his sharingan head option.

I'm not even mad, that looks great to be honest. Either you really lucked out or people take terrible pictures of the figure. Thanks for taking more pictures as you said you would and I hope mine arrives sometime soon. If only he came with more faces, I'd really love this figure. 100x better than the Medicom figure that's for sure.
This figure should use the same eye system as the revoltech kinnikuman figure so the eyes are swappable.

Yeah it's extremely odd that a character that has many different types of eye "transformations" gets only one face with the eyes activated. And then that face is frozen in a yelling expression which confirms I'll never be using it. I wish I could get the normal face repainted to have the sharingan.
I don't think its something Bandai does. Prolly something that they'll do in the future though.

Lmao, yet for the DBZ figures there are all of these faces for every possible expression the characters have made. There's "angry", "angry and smirking", "angrier with a growl", "goofy smiling", "angry while yelling", and my personal favorite "angry while looking slightly to the right".
That's 6 heads for a character that doesn't even need all of those expressions as most are very similar. Yet for the character whose eyes have multiple forms and face actually changes, we get "default eyes with blank expression", and "yelling with eyes active".
If it was done with half of the effort put into the DBZ line, we'd get the classic calm expression Sasuke does in battle:

, his EMS:
, and of course, his rinnegan:
But nah, the character with changing eyes gets two sculpts even though he hardly ever yells and his eyes have multiple forms. GG.
It looks lie they are testing water on this one. Just like what they did with DBZ. It wasn't until the SDCC Exclusives that they realised they need to make more with the unexpected demands for DBZ figures. I doubt there's similiar demands for this. It'll prolly end up the same fate as the one piece Figuarts sadly.

I feel like they hit the ground running with the DBZ releases, but lazily threw together Naruto, and had a small improvement on Sasuke. Here's to hoping next release (****shi, Sakura, Lee?) is on par with the dbz figures

Why would they test the waters with the two main characters of the series? From the DBZ line, they should have already figured out what was necessary. The DBZ figures definitely were always high quality as well. And when I say high quality, I mean really high quality. They completely dropped the ball on the Naruto figure and the Sasuke figure looks alright however it could look better just as the prototype did. The lack of faces there's really no excuse for, especially when they can include a multitude of expressions for the DBZ figures. The Naruto series is also extremely popular so the demand is definitely there.
The DBZ fans were only given Goku, Gohan and Piccolo for a few years actually. It wasn't until 3-4 years ago that they start releasing 3-4 new figures every year.

The point is all of those were exceptionally done with a nice amount of faces/accessories. It's not about how many they produce, but at least produce with quality.
