Right it depends on how the decals are used and why. Rivendell and Dwalin both use them for Weta and the restults are pretty darn good. Sometimes things are too much of a pain to paint.

:lecture

When I used to build garage kits, painting all the small details was a BIG pain in the ***! :lol

Declas can be ok if they are applied properly. For model kits, you gloss the surface, apply decals, gloss again, then flat clear. That methods blends the decal and removes any glossy sheen from the decal and elimantes decal silvering. But no factory will spend the time to do that.

I have Neytiri maquette too. Good thing it is in a dark corner. Under bight light you can see the shine on the decals.

I have my Neytiri displayed in a well lit room with natural light and you can't tell whether they are decals or hand painted.

As I said before, if the end result is a fantastic looking statue then I'm good with Sideshow using decals.

Anyway, enough about Neytiri...I'm looking forward to adding Shaak Ti to my Star Wars collection! :yess:
