Yes, they made him Mexican, because the US likes Mexican food, and everything South of the border is all Mexico. :lol
The Atlanteans are now supposed to be Aztecs or Mayans or some such. I don't know how much sense it makes, since Atlantis always had a GrecoRoman identity due to the sources, and the most accurate prediction for it is near the Western parts of North Africa, in the Mediterranean. I guess they didn't want to portray the black utopia going to war with a white utopia and thus undermining Wakanda, but Atlantis now being POCs means it's PC. Or something. Who knows? It's not the worst idea ever, as I've seen rumors that they were going to make them Chinese, but I can't say that I'm all that thrilled about it. It could've been worse, but it does irk me a bit. Namor was Poseidon's newphew, has wings like Hermes, and Atlantis was the classic styled Atlantis. I guess they wanted to differentiate themselves from the Aquaman version, but that was just a bunch of bright lights, it didn't really have any GrecoRoman elements AFAIR.

I feel that it's a pretty unnecessary change, especially when the guy they chose looks like a pudgy, average guy, and Namor is supposed to be statuesque. I just feel that they're changing too much for no reason at all. It's as if the MCU has gone into full-on TLJ mode and they're not going back. At least you can do some stuff with Mayan and Aztec architecture and the such, so it's not like they made it another Wakanda. But I can't say that I'm not dissapointed. The X-Men and the FF were my favourite Marvel corners, and thus far it's not looking good...

Did they really make him Hispanic, or just hire an exotic looking Hispanic actor?
Both Namor and Namorita are more on the Native side than Latinos like Pascal. They're going for a Lost Aztec/Maya Kingdom look:

There's nothing official yet, but these have been "confirmed" and BP2 is already shooting, so...

Pointy ears or not his face is too pudgy to be Namor.

He looks like he belongs in a bollywood musical.

Besides we all know that Namor is like a grown up Eddie Munster…

He better have the Spock ears.
There's really no reason. The ears worked as long as Namor looked as a fairy tale man. A sort of GrecoRoman elf. Without that phenotype, the ears, wings and hairstyle aren't needed at all. Let them come up with something more fitting to the new origin.

Do you like the Doom suit in Rise of the Silver Surfer?

I liked the mask and armour bits. It lookes like actual armour with the decorations instead of being a bare armoured chest. And I've already said that I'm not a fan of the simple Kirby look where it's just a tunic over a barebones armour. What ruins it is all the pleather and lack of a tunic bellow the waist. It's not as bad as many other adaptations of the time though, you can see that they tried to fit it into the more "grounded" take.

Yeah, that too, more or less. Namor's whole point was that he was this otherwordly guy. He's drawn too weird at times, but I prefer pretty boy Namor myself. That's the only way it makes sense that Sue would be tempted. Reed's supposed to be this Chad supergenius adventurer scientist who looks like Don Draper. Namor's just this demigod king with the body of a Greek statue. He's supposed to be a wet dream come to life. It's why Schiti's Namor is my favourite:

This guy they chose looks like your fun Hawaiian uncle that takes you jet skying and then to the casino. He's got a more regal air than the goofy guy they cast as Kang, but he's not Namor as I know him. I am dissapointed because a lot of the FF characters were always amongst my Top 10, especially Namor, and the recent changes just turn them into completely different characters. I could still enjoy it, but I doubt MCU Atlantis will have even 1/10th of the work Gibson put into Apocalypto.

If you put me on the spot, I'd have preferred a GrecoRoman Atlantis and an androgynous Hapa pretty boy as Namor over this. But it's not bad enough to make me swear off the MCU version just yet. If they cast Gus Fring as Doom though, I'm legitimately selling/throwing away everything. I'm not even joking. All my pop culture interests go away at that instant.

I always saw him as pretty bulky/stocky:

But he's usually portrayed as more ripped and lean, a swimmer's physique. He's a demigod of sorts, it's not like he needs bigger muscles to be more powerful.

In the 90s he obviously got more X-TREME:

I myself like the way he's currently drawn:

The all-black eyes with the bright blue irises make him look like a sharkman. It's a shame I'll never get that figure in Hot Toys quality... I wish they'd do some comic based stuff, but, alas, it will never happen...

When HT finally makes Grand Admiral Thrawn you will have your Namor lol

I’m a Namor fan myself and never understood the ‘roid look on a swimmer. John Byrne did a great run that I own and love. The guy can lean up before filming, hire an actor not the body. Otherwise we’d have more wrestlers playing these roles, oh the humanity.

So technically this met BW but with an extra day tomorrow. I know thise numbers roll in, but you get that $60 mil D+ straight cash. No sharing with theaters. Execs know they like that dough. Got to see the legs for it which could be the deal breaker.
