Yeah I saw that and looks fantastic. So is a company actually producing this? I just assumed it was a small (and very expensive) custom run that somebody was doing.

Sold! What company is making this? "GY Toys"?

I'd like a swap out laser / toolbox and some other options to represent both movies.

Would also like to see an eventual Short Circuit 2 punk version :rock

wow i'd definitely buy that if it was commonly available.
also will see the movie for the first time in my life, never had that luck before.

I didn't know until recently that the great Syd Mead designed Johnny 5.

RIP Syd Mead

I saw this on the BBICN Forum some days ago, and he said:

Due to the extremely complicated production process, only five are sold, each of which has a limited number of independent numbers.
Hand-made non-mass production tribute

This will not be cheap even if it is mass-produced. The volume of 1: 6 is very large, and the output is not enough to be cost-effective. From the perspective of popularity and recognition, the order volume must not be high. Good crowdfunding is not very realistic, so from a rational point of view, it can only be made by hand if it has sufficient commercial value. HT or 3A will definitely not let this copyright go.

The price listed was 2000 Yuan, which is currently around $287.

it would cost $400+ even if it was mass produced anyway.

I'm interested if the production version looks good. This isn't a figure I would want to preorder from a company I know nothing about. Short Circuit was one of the cheesy fun movies from the 80s that is still somehow memorable.

i wouldn't pay 400 but only because i became greedy and out of display space lately, not because it doesn't deserve it. i'd still pay 300, but i guess it's not a problem because it won't be sold.

Sigh, had a feeling it would be something like that. Price seems reasonable but with only 5 made they're almost certainly gone by now. Oh well, maybe someday a company will produce this in large numbers.

It is really cool but not 400.00 cool. If it was a bit cheaper I would find a place for it.
