Here is my custom Natasha Romanoff from the ending of Winter Soldier; I'd seen a few custom figures of this scene before but I wanted to use the Civil War Widow headsculpt (which is by far the best Johansson likeness, IMO), and all of the other customs I'd seen had her in a black leather blazer/boots (probably because the Pop Toys version of this oufit is all-black) when it's pretty clearly a dark green/olive color in the film.
Here is the original:
Here is my attempt:
I used a Headplay knockoff of the CW headsculpt and combined it with the hair from a knockoff WS head. I had to shave down the headsculpt using an X-acto knife so that it was more similar to the WS head's size/shape; even then, the forehead was coming up above the hairline, so I used a little Sculpey to raise the hair enough to where it falls semi-normally. The body I used was the Very Cool Female Medium Bust FX02-B that was recommended in the Winter Soldier figure thread for Widow customs, and I was super-impressed with it (it came with way more hands/adapters than I was expecting). The head and body don't fit together too well - the body's neckplug doesn't really fit in the hole in the headsculpt, but even if it did, it would result in a no-neck look - but I used some Sculpey where they meet to raise the head, and it has the side effect of mostly keeping the head in place (barring any rough handling).
I also ordered the aforementioned Pop Toys outfit - X14, Female Spy Leather Suit - and used a couple of coats of Angelus leather paint in Olive to paint the black blazer and boots an appropriate shade of green. (The whole leather paint thing actually turned out way easier and looked way better than I expected, oddly enough.) Finally, the Pop Toys outfit comes with a white knit tube top, but since it seemed kind of cheap and in the film she's pretty clearly actually wearing a white tank top, I picked up a white tank top (the one that comes as a set with Calvin Klein underwear).
Overall I'm pretty pleased with it, with a few minor nitpicks. The blazer isn't perfect - it should nip in a little more at the waist, the sleeves could stand to be a slimmer fit, and either they are a little long or her arms are a little short; the spike heels on the boots make it very difficult for the figure to stand unaided, so I still need to get a stand for her; while the file that came with the outfit looks good for now, I'd like to make one that's a little more screen-accurate; and I still need to find some way to approximate the already-tiny arrow necklace in 1/6 scale. Still, I think it's not bad for a first custom!
