I'm finding it hard to bite the bullet and buy the Hot Toys Stormtrooper, the Marmit still looks great to me. :dunno

That does look great. If your content with what you have, save your $ and buy whatever else is coming out. I for one am happy with my SS troopers and will spend my $ on other characters I don't have.

Yeh, my money is marked for Sideshows forthcoming Biker Scout & Tie Pilot :wink1:

The Marmit is stil la great figure today. Very accurate in many parts, especially the helmet. The HT has a better body and armor - hard ABS instead of soft PVC. Look a few pages back, I made a comparison review of Marmit, HT and SSC 1:6 Stormtroopers

Interesting! I've search for it but with no results. Can you indicate me the post?! Thanks!

Woah Eukalyptus, your clones can actually hold their big rifles up?!?!? My veteran has super loose arms and I haven't reposed him since I first opened him up

I agree. That's why I haven't jumped on a Hot Toys yet either. My Marmit Stormtrooper and Sandtrooper look great. No crazy poses for me so the limited articulation on the Marmit doesn't bother me. I might get the Spacetrooper especially since it's said the backpack is removable so then I'd also have the option of displaying it as a regular Stormtrooper or the Spacetrooper with that awesome looking rifle. :)

Love the Marmits too but the thickness and sharpness of the armor I'm noticing since the HT released. Marmit is way too thick and has much less definition in the armor (and yes, also has your scalpel blade marks around it where you had to cut/build it when new.) The feet/shins being one piece and a bit curved also looks a little funky, the hands are weird and the gun is Hasbro-like. All that aside - they really blow away all the 1/6 figures around them.:lol The Marmit sandie in particular is an eye catcher in any display. They were very expensive in the day, but worth the investment.

I think I still prefer the overall look of a Marmit to my ht, but only by a hair once I start losing two hts together then I'll probsbly change to favour the ht, they both go together well on the shelf, the sideshow fits if viewing from the side but all kinds of wrong face on

Comparing a helmet of a Marmit Stormtrooper/Sandtrooper to a Sideshow version is like comparing an accurate RS Prop Masters or a TE/TM to an old obsolete F/X

Testify! :lecture

On the subject of helmet accuracy ... :horse ... I remember you bringing up Gentle Giant's mini-bust as an excellent example. I'm reminded that GG helped Hasbro with their six inch Sandtrooper sculpt, and another look confirms just how shockingly good that one is. A couple of minor paint tweaks and it's even better. As I've said elsewhere, I'm sure that was an accident. :lol

Couple of the biggest problems replicating that sculpt being that those lateral tubes weren't that big and there was an unexpected flatness to the facial profile that no one seems to get right.

Your eyes pick up on all those little details...I took digital callipers to the Marmit and Hot Toys helmets and they're really, really close...but as much as I love the Hot Toys sculpt...and believe me, I love it, they're killer toys...I have to give the edge to Marmit by a hair. But I think those GG helmets are even closer. Including Hasbro's. :horror
