Gentle Giant scanned the helmet for their Stormie mini-bust, which is something high end collectibles companies could easily do today as well. But they prefer "artistic intepretations" LOL :banghead

Yeah, pity the GG bust is 1/7 scale and its helmet is 1/8... and then that great Disney figure with the accurate helmet is like 1/5 scale. Can't win.:slap:lol

My top three action figure picks:

1. Black Series 6" Sandtrooper (Most require some modification. The early production runs of the black pauldron have superior production quality).
2. Marmit Sandtrooper (The production quality is variable, but I generally favour the Squad leaders.)
3. Based on photos, Hot Toys Sandtrooper. (Helmet looks great in some show pics, not as much in some of the promo shots.)

Just got my first HT stormie in-hand today and I think I'm in the "really like" not "love" camp. The helmet sort of captures the ANH hero helmet (which is not my favorite look unfortunately) and it's a lovely figure in hand, but I do wish it had been the stunt it was modeled after - like what GG did. It's nitpicky, but that stunt helmet look screams ANH stormie more than the hero style to me. The Marmit is sort of a meld of stunt and hero so it's inaccurate in its own way too I guess.

Hm. That's why my Marmit pick is the Sandtrooper (stunt) sculpt.

The HTs are beautiful, but what I'm seeing is typical of HT...they dazzle with quality and finish while falling just short.

They are stunning, but like that really hot chick...their personality could be better. [emoji16]

Could you tell what defects did they have?
Short trooper had a long scratch across the top of his helmet, tall trooper had a giant paint blotch on the cod piece and a black dot on the front of the helmet. If the dot was on the back and cod piece was ok, I could have lived with it but the giant scratch on the helmet was just too much.

I looked and seems I have 5 Stormtrooper/Sandtrooper DLT-19 rifles so far: one from SSC Sandtrooper, one from Medicom Sandie, 2 from Marmit Sandie, and I should have one from 1:6 Dragon MG-34 - this Star Wars rifle was in fact a WWII German MG-34 machine gun. Curious how the HT will compare to these 4. The sturdiest is the Marmit, the most detailed is the SSC. Now I could use a stand for the rifles or sell this extra Marmit DLT-19

Work has been totally crazy so haven't really had the time to enjoy the Stormtrooper two pack. But had a closer look yesterday and damn these troopers are impressive! Can't wait to get more of the Hot Toys Star Wars figures this year!

I'm turning my dragon mg-34 into the stormie rifle. All you have to do is add the little fins on the barrel - not exactly easy, but a few little bits of styrene will do it ( and an hour:gah:)

Yeah, I'm same. Just now taking my Ht stormie out for a closer look.

Not necessarily, seems there were some Sandtrooper rifles without the t-tracks. Don't know for sure, as for never researched this blaster rifle like I did for E-11s

There is a promo shot of the squad talking to Garindan ("Long-Snoot") before they head to docking bay 94, where they will inexplicably fall down a lot after Han shoots at the ceiling and walls. :lol

Anyway, in that photo the orange pauldron trooper with the DLT has a rifle without T-tracks. Off the top of my head I can't remember if that was the prop used in the final on-screen shot of them walking through the alley towards the bay.

Interesting to know. I don't have access to my TK/TD hi-res screenshots right now to check it out. Can you post pics?
