I would be interested in your opinion on what you see as flaws on the HT sandtrooper bucket. Of all people in this forum I know you love to study these details and I respect your opinion. But, honestly...I can't agree with you on the Marmot buckets. I've tried to print accurate ANH sandtrooper buckets off of a 3D printed and it's no joke...it's hard to maintain accurate depths and edges, but the comparison, side to side is vastly superior, IMHO.

We CANNOT discuss this from just photos. We'll talk when the HT Sandtrooper is released and in hand. So far the the Marmit Stormtrooper helmet is better than the HT Stomtrooper helmet.

I'm still interested in why you are saying that as the smile is off on the Marmit as is the measurement from the center smile to the center vocoder direct speaker. I see HT has corrected those things.

If you can't go by pictures now, why are you saying HT got it wrong?

I've been mostly referring to sand troopers, but I see that the Marmit stormy is still quite excellent. Do you have both HT and Marmit Stormy's?

Im new to collecting Starwars 1/6 scale but here is what I have

You can see that it shares the same design hiccup the Marmit does - the "chin" (vertical distance from mouth to point of chin) is too much compared to the costume.

It was the one part of my HT stormies that didn't blow me away (even though it is really nice) - the helmet sculpt didn't seem like a "big leap forward" improvement over what went before, even vaguely reminiscent of the SSC one though obviously better in many regards.

Also because they were thinking Han and Luke all along, they went with the Hero style helmet - when the stunt helmet (which looks noticeably different side-by-side) is the more iconic look.

I've got a Hasbro Stormtrooper and a Hasbro TIE Pilot, both Collectors series, but won't be including then in my display as they are bulky ugly lumps compared to the other figures.

The TIE would be bearable if I didn't already have 2 Marmits, so that I've will likely get sold on as it's only been taken out if the box once (and quickly put back in again after standing next to the Marmit).

The Stormtrooper however is seriously bad, I might recycle parts of the body to articulate the new Hasbro First Order Stormtrooper figure, but the armour will probably get binned - it's in pretty poor condition anyway, let alone being worse than a Rubies costume. I've also got a Hasbro Sandtrooper on the way, only for the pauldron and backpack, so that will probably getting recycled too.

Don't dismiss the Hasbro stormie altogether. I used Hasbro armor and cast of my Marmit sandie head to create a stormie that in some ways I like as much as the Ht one (and it cost $30:lol)

Yep. I see they made that same mistake that Marmit had and also improved on the crisp edges of armor and the shape of armor to more movie accurate over the side show, but not as drastic improvement as the sandtrooper.

I'm really surprised by the mistake when they were so close.

Yesterday I logged out before replying to you - different time zones - I'm in EU, and went out with friends. Yes, I own both HT Stormies and also Marmit Stormie and Sandtrooper. And Medicom, SSC, GG, JudgeDredd, Attakus, Kotobukiya, you name it.

There are only a few scaled Stormtrooper collectibles (figure, statue, bust) that are close to perfection regarding accuracy - those are the GG mini-bust and Judge Dredd Stormtrooper statue (custom). In both cases the helmet was scanned from a screen used. And still GG one is a tad too small and the mic tips too pronounced, while the JD one is a bit too rough for some people's taste.

As Talibane said above the area between the frown (the part you call "smile" - it has been called "mouth" too) and the mic tips area, I mean those frontal tubes zone, is a bit too long and fat. SSC 1/6 figure and the 1/4 PF had it even longer and bigger and thus looked quite bad. I also agree that the Stunt helmet despite the lack of bubble lenses, is a more iconic Stormtrooper helmet than the Hero. At least we'll see the Stunt as a Sandtrooper.

One of the really good things HT has compared to most other Stormie helmets is the separate ears. Very cool. And in the end, like I said in my review, the Marmit still has a better overall helmet sculpt, but HT is very close. Both much better than SSC (even Medi has a better lid than SSC in most regards), but all are less accurate than the old GG mini-bust - the sad thing is GG also made a 1/6 Stormtrooper statue, but had a new sculpt for the helmet, which was stupid, considering how cool and accurate the old one was.

But the HT Stormie is a superb figure so don't worry

The Hasbro Stormtrooper I have has the large bulky armour, very soft and poorly fitting, I tried it with a Marmit helmet and it still looked awful. I'm aware that the VOTC figure has slimmer armour, with crisper details, but I don't have one to try it with.

If you look at this picture from MWCToys https://www.mwctoys.com/images/bob4.jpg the figure I have is on the left, the VOTC is on the right. My figure is also in really bad condition, with pen marks and paint on the back of the armour and generally grubby all over, with most of the threads holding the armour on missing, the seller was somewhat misleading in their description of "very good condition" and their photos were carefully taken to hide the issues, but sending it back for a refund would have cost be more than I paid for it - luckily it was really cheap, and will be worth what I paid if I can use it to modify the Hasbro FO figure.

It has to be tightened. You slit it in the back, trim, tighten and superglue - the back looks screen accurate that way too. I posted this pic a while back. Still has to be lightly weathered. It is all Hasbro armor (I believe it was the Han Stormtrooper release that came with the long trash compactor pole) except the forearms, which are the extras from the Marmit. Gun is SSC, mouse droid is Hasbro.

I really like the hasbro stuff. I'm going to replace my Leia Boussh chest armor with the Hasbro because it's more accurate once trimmed. I've already replaced the Boussh pole weapon with the Hasbro because it has essentially identical sculpt detail to the SSC, but is correctly scaled. Here is a reboot of the Hasbro Biker (all Hasbro parts but with custom pouches - casts of Marmit Boba's) next to the SSC Biker. Don't believe this "Hasblow" thing people toss out around here. Yeah, a lot os junk, but a lot of it is great and accurate or can be made so.

That looks really good. I'll have to see if I can pick one up cheap and give it a go. There's no way the figure I have will look like that, there's no shape to the shoulder/bicep armour (they're a single piece on each side) and the leg armour has very little detail, at least the later armour has some definition and the shin+boot piece doesn't look like a single knee-high boot.

Looking at a few pics online it appears that the Han POTJ figure has the same chest armour as the older one I have, but the rest of the armour is similar to the VOTC figure. If I can't get a VOTC at a decent price I could at least adapt the chest armour from the one I have to make a POTJ figure look better.

I got the Hasbro Snowtrooper and Scout based on reviews and photos I'd seen online, they are to my eyes decent figures and far more affordable then their high-end counterparts; the Scout especially so. The TIE pilot isn't too bad, and if I didn't already have a Marmit to compare him to I'd probably be happy with it. Except for the E-11 blasters - they are ridiculously oversized with the few figures I've had.

I love Marmits, always have, always will. Even though I'm mostly disappointed with the HT stormtrooper bucket..I still think it can be posed on the most realistic, film accurate, manner. It's an improvement.

I'm looking to grab another short chest piece from the Luke trooper to further mod a second tall trooper of mine, looks fine on the Spacetrooper and should give the figure more of a Marmit look.

I actually bought an extra stormie neck piece to make the HT longer neck. Couldn't bring myself to cut the one the fig came with.

Couldn't find another neck peg that was longer and that would fit, so I'm going to cut the neck peg and extend it by 5mm using a thin piece of rod.

Sorry for the crap pictures. Took my sandtrooper down off the Dewback. Marmit with a heavily modified HT body rip off. Ised lots of padding, SS and and shoulder armor.

Just got my Spacetrooper in from Sideshow today here in Australia! The Star Wars stuff is coming thick and fast now!! Overall a nice variant on the standard Stormtrooper.
