Managed to pick up another snowtrooper and it's the exclusive !!! Love my display image.jpgimage.jpg

Wow, that's brilliant! What are you going to do for the scouts!

I missed those feudal icons to do that.

I've recently picked up a few more Marmit figures - a second TIE pilot, a second Sandtrooper (with sloppy paint on the armour over the sandy parts, I'll be stripping that off and customising, pics to come in the future), and an AT-AT driver.

The AT-AT figure is missing one hose but is otherwise complete (stickers, spare gloves, and blaster are in the box), here it is with a pair of LEGO hoses (they'll be shortened a little when I get around to sorting out a display cabinet).

The TIE pilot is missing the belt buckle and commpad. I'll have to make up replacements, and the first TIE pilot I got also needs a buckle.

I also picked up some Medicom figures, a Sandtrooper and a Clone Trooper. Far too small to display with the Marmits, and the Sandy helmet looks too big for the body, the legs too short, all the proportions look weird. I'll probably sell both of these on.

Waiting on a Hasbro Scout on Speeder Bike to arrive, I'll be printing a DC-15x style sniper rifle for the Hasbro Scout I already have once I've finished modelling it, and a DLT-20A for the Hasbro Snowtrooper I got a while ago (must remember to scale it right this time, the first one I did was 1/12 scale instead of 1/6, doh!)

Very nice! For the Marmit AT-AT Driver I'd recommend using the hoses from an old Hasbro 12" AT-AT Driver figure, much better than original Marmit ones, though still not perfect.

Grabbed the FO Stormtrooper and Kylo Ren 12" figures at TRU today as they were on offer, they'll do as placeholders till I can get something better. Looks like Hasbro took the Medicom approach to scale on these ...

I'll might cut both figures up at some point to add elbows, and knees to the stormtrooper, as they're just large hollow versions of the small figures. But for less than £10 each they're OK figures from a distance.

Got chance to take some betters photos today, and have most of my figures together.

Not in shot are two more recent additions - a boxed Hasbro Speeder Bike with Scout Trooper, and a boxed Marmit Sandtrooper Sergeant, both in as new condition. The Marmit figure I'll get around to setting up at some point to stand with his brothers. The Speeder Bike is huge, not sure where I'm going to put it yet.

The Marmit Sandtrooper in the first pic at the front is clumsily holding a Dragon Lewis machine gun, it'll get the bipod and handle removed and some ribbing added to make it look more like the movie version.

The Marmit Sandtrooper at the back on the first pic needs some TLC, it's missing the accessories, and someone painted the sandy markings with white paint which has yellowed a little - I'll be removing all that paint, adding some Dragon MP40 ammo pouches painted black, and I've got a Hasbro black pauldron and backpack on the way to help out too.

The Hasbro Snowtrooper in the second pic has a custom 3D printed DLT-20A I was able to run off at work, it's a little rough as it was a PLA printer so needs a little sanding before painting. I'll also have to mod the figure's hands somewhat to be able to hold it better.

Nice display ageofstrife. Marmit troopers are a great alternative to HT and some great deals are available right now as people foolishly dump them thinking the HT ones are vastly superior, which they are not. I'm not knocking the HT troopers, in fact I decided to get the HT Spactrooper since he won't be done by anybody else, including HT, ever again most probably. I got another Marmit Stormtrooper for $89 USD to save some money over the HT ones and feel they are equal ( but I'll concede a slight edge to HT for the sake of argument) when each strengths and weaknesses are taken into account.

Disagree, disagree, disagree. HT sandtroopers a ARE superior....in different ways. Marmits need to be dramatically customized to even come close, but can never compete fully because the HT bucket is VASTLY superior.

Sorry....

The accuracy of the Marmit Stormie helmet is superior to HT one.

On another board I've been asked about my opinion regarding Hot Toys Stormtrooper 1:6 figure compared to Marmit and SSC versions.

I had my own issues with the HT TK regarding glued parts, but they were easy fix, and thus this will not affect my judgement. HT is a big improvement over the SSC, this can also be seen if you read carefully on the box, regarding who was involved in its development, and on HT FB page (some older posts and replies). Anyway HT has a better body, better shiny ABS armor (no need for chest plate futzing) and a better helmet compared to SSC. While the HT Stormie helmet is not totally accurate (not meaning asymmetry, which is not necessary at this size) is much better shaped than SSC.

SSC lid has the big jaw, enormous mic tips, and when putting the helmet on body, the trooper has no neck anymore. Not to mention the freaking ugly tiny SSC codpiece - I'm even thinking maybe to re-purpose my SSC Stormie and transform it into a female TK some day in the future... On the SSC plus side I'd add the E-11 which is better than any 1:6 blaster and the thermal detonator clips (better and more solid steel than on HT).

The Marmit still has a better overall helmet sculpt, but HT is very close. On the armor part the Marmit is great, but has its own issues already addressed (accurate but softer general sculpt, comes as a kit that needs assembly, legs/feet armor connected, thermal detonator not so good, soft PVC armor instead of hard ABS like SSC and HT, Marmit body is not that good compared to HT, but still not as floppy as SSC, and Marmit E-11 is weak in design for today's standards). And the fact that HT comes already assembled, and not as a kit, neither you need to futz the armor, and with good body that fits the armor, adds up to the HT.

So is HT overall better than Marmit and SSC? Yes. Is it perfect? No. Is it the best 1:6 Stormtrooper? In some parts it indubitably is, in some still needs improvement. Do I like it with all its issues? I love it and I own 3 of them already.

PS. TK = Stormtrooper

I've got a Hasbro Stormtrooper and a Hasbro TIE Pilot, both Collectors series, but won't be including then in my display as they are bulky ugly lumps compared to the other figures.

The TIE would be bearable if I didn't already have 2 Marmits, so that I've will likely get sold on as it's only been taken out if the box once (and quickly put back in again after standing next to the Marmit).

The Stormtrooper however is seriously bad, I might recycle parts of the body to articulate the new Hasbro First Order Stormtrooper figure, but the armour will probably get binned - it's in pretty poor condition anyway, let alone being worse than a Rubies costume. I've also got a Hasbro Sandtrooper on the way, only for the pauldron and backpack, so that will probably getting recycled too.

I would be interested in your opinion on what you see as flaws on the HT sandtrooper bucket. Of all people in this forum I know you love to study these details and I respect your opinion. But, honestly...I can't agree with you on the Marmit buckets. I've tried to print accurate ANH sandtrooper buckets off of a 3D printed and it's no joke...it's hard to maintain accurate depths and edges, but the comparison, side to side is vastly superior, IMHO.

Marmit COD piece is off, shoulder armor and forearm off scale, bucket has a dolphin smile if you extend the grin as I have in these photo. Close, but no cigar.

HT shins are a bit canckley, forearms a little skinny and chest armor a little too tight on the wrap around...otherwise almost perfect "move along" squad leader.
