do any of you know where I could find a poster frame with good protection qualities (acid free backing, UV covering) that accomodates a bus shelter size poster approximate 4 feets by 6 feets? thanks

I have been collecting and trading original film posters for about 22 years now.I get all my poster frames from Sue Heim at hollywood poster frames. She can help you with most anything you need and she is very fair. And very quick shipping. www.hollywoodposterframes.com you can get her Tel# from the site and talk to her direct if you don't find what you need looking on her website.

good luck

thanks marvin, I contacted Sue and she said due to the size she can only ship the frame unassembled and without UV filtering plexiglass and acid free archival foamboard. it's about $150 shipped, I looked at how much plexi UV cost from other places, $325, artcare alpharag about $150 so all together it would be around $600 for a frame. are there any other cheaper alternatives? also are the bus shelter poster supposed to be UV treated for outdoor display if so maybe I can just get a regular plexiglass without UV for less? I was also thinking of getting those trade show banner displays but they dont come in sizes 4 feets by 6feets.

also can some of you tell me if laminating is a good or bad idea, i heard it devalues original posters and the laminating will yellow over time?

I thought she could do 4'x6'. Anyway for the plexi Tap Plastics www.tapplastics.com they have 1/8th thick sheets up to 51"x125" and they cut to size. For the Foam Board Blicks www.dickblick.com is where I got my backing for my Six Sheet and they can cut to size for a fee.
It's always hard to do any oversize posters and always more $.Hope it all works out for you.

UV is good but not totally necessary. If it's an expensive/valuable item or will outside light be shinning on it at all. Also do not laminate ever or glue to foam backing.

Good Luck

I got mine for $50 which I thought was an excellent deal. It was bent a little bit at the lower left corner but when it's framed you'll never see it!

Wow, that was a great bargain! All the ones I've seen are over $100... they were brand new/mint, but I'd rather save dough because of a tiny bend than go full-price for a "perfect" poster.

Yeah, I was worried about the bent corner before it arrived to be honest! Once is came and I inspected the piece, the crease wasn't bad and the bend was basically on the actual corner of the poster! I scored a pretty sweet deal for $50!:yess:

I'm also going to add a POTC and Indiana Jones Poster soon, I just haven't picked them out yet!
