I have to say the production bust looks better than the proto imo. Kongrats to those who got him

Totally agree... the piece looks awesome.

I think a lot of the 1:1 pieces are hollow. The head that comes with the Vader 1:1 is very light weight, but its actually a good thing as it makes placing the portrait on the bust less likely to go awry.

Well, I received my Hulk bust just a short time ago.

I think that most of SS stuff in Marvel and many other themes are superb.

Unfortunately, I don't think this one falls under that category. I think SS slight missed the mark on this one.

The paint apps are excellent on the one I received, and it does look better in person than what we originally saw from SS.

I think the teeth on the Hulk are really what throw this off. They look plastic, and they also look like one piece. If you take a look at the teeth of the Thing, you would swear that each of those teeth are real. I am not saying the Hulk should have teeth exactly like the Thing, but I am saying they should look real. Unfortunately, they look like dentures that you slide in and out of your mouth in one shot. If they SS had taken care of this, the bust would have given a completely different impression, and know that I have one in person, I think this is the major issue that makes it look like what some others have commented as the "Grinch.

The eyes, hair facial expression are superb. When you have a 1:1 lifesize bust, the teeth will be noticeable, especially when the mouth is open to expose those teeth.

I think I am going to get the teeth redone if I can find some talent close to home to do it.

Looking at the Spidey bust in comparison, I think the head of the hulk could have been a bit bigger too.

Spidey bust and Thing bust are each on their own heavier than the Hulk bust I have.

looks good, though like you said with comparing it side by side with others the teeth do stick out quite badly.
i think even some shading between the teeth to show a bit of depth and possibly grit/grime would make them look more realistic like Thing's teeth.
congrats on the great piece though.

EDIT: btw are you getting the Wolverine bust also, since i think the teeth on him also stick out. Thor on the other hand looks to be one of the best in the line IMO.

sadly no since i've managed to stay away from the 1:1 line, (well except for my 1:1 Hulk )

EDIT: also good to see that you're not having to be a completest. i find it very hard to not get everything in a line.

Anyways, I just took another peek at the Wolvey bust, I think the teeth will be done MUCH differently than the Hulks. In fact, they look more along the line of the Thing's teeth in terms of the teeth looking like individual pieces.

I have the Spiderman, Venom, Iron Man and now the Hulk bust and its obvious none of them are 1:1 as Sideshow claims. This is especially obvious with the Iron Man bust....totally FALSE ADVERTISING.

But yet I still buy them and enjoy them, go figure....

The early in hand shots I thought looked great, but after seeing the pix by Batman29 it really shows how inferior this bust is to the others in the line. Size looks way off and the Thing bust looks better in every aspect.

reminds me of when I got the sabretooth lsb.. Teeth were one color very white and made the whole thing look fake. The teeth on the Thing 1:1, Venom 1:1 and Hulk LSB are so realistic. If they have the capability to do it why be inconsistant. Money saving move?.. You never know if your going to get a cheaply painted piggybank or a quality sturdy amazing piece of art.. The inconsistancy is annoying.

Great comparison set0up Fuzzy, this is what I meant. The teeth on the Wolvie look real already from that shot.

Bodie, I have the Venom 1:1 bust too, and completely forgot to mention it.

That is a prime example. The teeth on that even look decayed here and there. That bust is still boxed up, should get it out.

I was not bashing SS. I think they are a superb company, and I have been extremely pleased with most of their stuff and have always said so.

This bust is one of the rare one's that missed the mark IMO.

As for their 1:1 lifesize being 1:1, I think they got most of them about right. The head sizes will be different according to the era of the character and artist. Even the IM should be bigger head because there is a helmet going over a head, and hence will be physically bigger.

I know the teeth on this hulk do not seem right, but the head size ... does anyone know for sure if this is about right for that era of Hulk? Maybe Shai?

Well, it could have been a tad bigger but not much... Lee and kirby's Hulk was 6'10"-7' max. The Hulk bust proportion of the head are still bigger than Spidey, But I agree that its slightly not big enough.
