The sculpt on this is bad but I really don't like the hair either. This is one of the few times where I think rooted hair on a male figure is necessary.

I agree in todo, the sculpetd hair in this figure are awful

Sideshow's track record for human sculpts from prototype to final product isn't the greatest to begin with and they usually start with a stronger product being shown than what ends up the final in hand product. So if they think this is good enough to show at SDCC I don't have a lot of faith in it.

Like I said before, I definitely see Keaton in the sculpt. That is his mouth, his forehead, his nose, etc. Look at how nicely sculpted the details and paint are.


It's the expression that kills it. It doesn't represent the character well at all. He looks like a friendly guy with those wet, puppy dog eyes. That's where I think this figure fails. If they had gone with a more sinister, devious sculpt, it would be perfect.


Oh, and they should add a fat suit/padding to his torso. Beetlejuice had quite a paunch. I believe Keaton wore padding in the film for that exact look so it would really benefit this figure to have some girth in the stomach.

I saw the reveal this morning and I planned on coming back to post how this isn't too bad and how I see some Keaton and yada yada... and then I saw your manip. Man that brought me back to my senses!! That highlights what a mess this really is.

I do see Keaton but those eyes and surrounding area destroy everything good about this sculpt. I don't even mind the sculpted hair and the paint actually looks really great. It gives this a level of realism that I never saw SS achieve, but it's hard not to think that'll all go down the tubes in production. The outfit looks great too but he is missing the spare tire. I was really hoping that this would've had more accessories. I'll be on the hunt for the gravestone. Even that's not everything it could be but definitely good enough.

Salivating at the upcoming comparisons to $1000 customs.

Yea I really hate that. The only thing exponentially more annoying than that is when the haters sling s*** at customs and their collectors.

You were there? If so, you didn't ask if he comes with a second head sculpt or other accessories? It's just a prototype so I don't expect to see any accessories yet.

3:36 - Even with the lame expression, the quality of the sculpting and paint are pretty impressive in HD and better than any custom figure available, BUT there's no way in hell the final product will look that "good"...or bad.
