I think they should consider swallowing their pride, cancel this, redo the headsculpt, rework the gravestone in a cheaper material to make it inclusive, and set it up for preorders again. Even with the argument of it being cheaper clothes than a custom set, I just can't support their attitude. I've always hated them on some level, ever since that awful 'sexy' Willow statue they did in the Buffy line. ThAt showed the same 'artistic' cluelessness about the character as portrayed and what fans like about a given character.

Speaking of Willow debacles, the fact that they were willing to release their 1/6 Willow figure even in the condition that headsculpt was in showed me that Sideshow puts profit above quality. They should have redone the Willow heads but they didn't bother. Great prototype headsculpt, but a horrible figure once it was produced. Scrapping it and recasting the head would have cost some extra money, but at least they wouldn't have been asking fans to purchase a botched piece.

So New indy pics came out and the figure....[sigh], I think im cancelling it. It doesn't look like a monstrosity but is not HT level for the price.

Example.

That's an excellent point. Sideshow released Willow, Bespin Luke, and I'm sure other figures with damaged and distorted head casts, even as a well-established company that could easily have swallowed the costs of re-doing the heads for the sake of their integrity and to show respect to their customers. Look at the lengths QMx, a much smaller company, went to, to get Malcolm Reynolds right. I'd be surprised if QMx is not losing money on Malcolm Reynolds, just to get off on the right foot in this niche business.. That speaks volumes about the company culture.

They've already put a beetlejuice and tombstone bundle up for $25 off. That doesn't bode well for the sale of this figure.

That's SS giving us this unbelievable price for such a fantastic piece of work.

Criticism by collectors never seems to inspire self-criticism within Sideshow. Maybe we should have sarcastically praised this piece beyond all reason.

"Sideshow's art department really knows how to capture the essence of a character."

"Hot Toys better be checking their rearview mirror."

"Hard to put a price on perfection."

It would leave Sideshow scratching its head when very few sold.

Vote with your dollar. They will hear that....
But someone will buy this crap....for what reason I fathom.

$240 that's not bad

But tombstone separated for $ 125?

**** off SS

Actually, $240 for this IS pretty damned bad. I've said it before... Unless the Edition Size is relatively small they are going to choke on these things.

I'm guessing they're making the tombstone out of polystone, which is unnecessary as they could do it out of PVC and it would look the same (just be much lighter). But $125 even for polystone is also ridiculous. $50-$75, tops.

They're pricing themselves at (or even above) Hot Toys levels without nearly the consistent level of quality or value.

The bad thing is if this doesn't sell well it might send the message that smaller niche properties won't sell well. Sure they probably read all the complaints, but at the end of the day it'll just come down to numbers. Which is a shame, it's a great movie with very little merchandise behind it. A great 1/6th would have made a lot of fans happy.

I'll wait on this like I did Nathan Drake.

If small niche properties don't sell like this beetlejuice, then only Sideshow can blame themselves for it. But they won't, they will blame poor sales on us.

They can blame whoever they like, I've got a thick skin, and I still won't be spending money on poo like this.
