Haven't heard from SS yet but it was probably after hours on Friday when I sent them my request. Back on page 387 you can see my problem...need a replacement right arm and head.

I finally got a chance to a have a better look at Threepio. A bit disappointed about the thumbs, I tried to see if I could rotate them but it doesn't look possible. The head can't turn left, no big deal. I also noticed that some of the wires in the abdomen are actual rubber wires and just molded on. Overall happy with paint used. Really bummed about thumbs. Wonder if that is something that Sideshow can address now knowing that both arms are detachable?

Yeah, no opposable thumbs on this guy. I still find it hard to believe this happened at all...such a blatant mistake ; it'll probably be my last SSC produced figure...definitely my last SSC produced PO.

Wow.. is this true.. I thought the thumbs looked weird in the photos I've seen. Hopefully there is a way to make them right??? I haven't ordered this yet but I may not now...please keep us posted,

If you're having a problem turning the head left or right it's because you've inserted it the wrong way. When you pull the head out, turn it left and right and locate the middle point, for me the seam on the batter compartment indicated where the center of the head needed to line up. When you place the head back on make sure everything aligns and the head will be able to turn in both directions.

I had the same problem with the head. It reached just past center and stopped. I was hesitant to force it but gave it just a little more force and it broke free. No damage and it moves freely in all directions.

That worked! Thank you! :duff

I wonder if all of them have the thumbs on wrong or just a certain first batch? I'll keep an eye out and see if any are shipping correct, if so I'm asking for a replacement.

One person posted in here that his thumbs looked okay. Less than a month into 2016 and we have Thumbgate.

Are the hands even removable -- in the very unlikely event Sideshow fixes this and offers a replacement?

Well mine was delivered on Friday. Oddly enough with my luck I have no issues. :yess: Everything seems fine and looks great other than those thumbs!!! :gah: I did have a dent in the box due to UPS' wonderful handling practices, but I'd gladly have to deal with that over a damaged figure. Here's a crappy lighting phone picture of both 3PO & R2 together. I used a black plastic base I had as a stand for R2 and surprisingly it looks pretty decent. Hopefully Sideshow will acknowledge the thumbs were placed wrong on the hands and issue replacements... Won't hold my breath though....

Wait- so what is the problem with the thumbs? They were mixed (left for right, right for left, or some other placement issue) or they were poorly designed and look like lobster claws because Sideshow is incompetent?

Sean

The thumbs are positioned wrong, they are positioned to curl in the same direction with the other fingers.

One way or another I will correct them, even if the cost is some articulation loss.
