I really , really wanted to give this figure two thumbs up…...
This issue is why I have a hands-off policy on this release. I can see why the community will be up in arms over it.

I really don't see how they expect a person to not grab the head to get to the batteries. I just very carefully wiggled it back and forth until it came loose. There's just not enough to grip onto to take it off by the neck unless your hands are way small.Any tips of safely removing the head to get to the batteries? The instructions say not to grip the head, but I can't see any other way of doing it. I can't seem to get the arm off either, just so nervous touching this figure for fear of breaking something. I can't seem to get the arms to move at the elbows, those little pistons seem so fragile and even just carefully attempting to move the elbow is straining against them.
Anybody going to wait for a HT version..you know it's coming

Otherwise, mine seems okay, I think. The inner piston on the left arm was disconnected at the top, didn't notice that on first inspection so it might have happened when I was trying to move the elbow a little, but it seemed to just clip back into place. Paint and weathering are okay for me and I probably wouldn't have even noticed the flashing on the knees if it hadn't been mentioned here. Mine has what looks like some flashing at the bottom of the front of the neck which is a little unsightly and there's some spots almost like flashing on the right side of the head where the back and front halves meet but I'm not sure if that's just meant to be weathering detail. They aren't present on the left side.
Has a bit of weight to it, about what I expected, and thankfully doesn't have the cheap, flimsy, hollow feel that R2 did and feels more like a premium figure. As with the last few Sideshow figures I've bought though, I have mixed feelings about it overall mostly because of the poor value for money. With shipping it was almost $380 AUD which is the same price that the HT Vader was available for on pre-order here before it sold out. Sets a new bar for the most overpriced figure in my collection but that's partly just down to the lousy exchange rate at the moment.
I'll be emailing Sideshow about the thumbs issue too. I can live with it but at the same time I don't think it's good enough for a figure at this price point.
Ben's sculpt change was pretty minor IMO. What we first saw at Toy Soul is basically what I see on my shelf (with less bright lights perhaps). Han and Vader's dome seem to be the only major changes. It's a fun ride though.HT Vader proto looked super weird and the release was touch and go for a long time, so I'd love to follow a wonky HT 3PO sculpt for nearly a year with breath held that final release will be better. It worked with Vader and Han (well, sort of,) not so well with Ben even with a major v2.0 sculpt change, so sure - I'm up for a HT 3PO.

My 3PO is about four feet away from me. I'm sitting on my couch looking up at it and I don't notice the thumbs at all. Just a nice 3PO standing with R2 on my shelf along with the rest of the OT figures. For me, I don't care about the thumbs.
im glad I passed on this to many issues. thumbs pistons breaking off flash left over from production hard time trying to install the batteries because of neck concerns. wow that`s a lot of problems for a figure. I bought the tamashii some years ago and im fine with that. it`s a nice figure but to many QC issues and for the price they want there should not be any maybe minor. but to each is there own I guess

I will wait patiently for HT ver as well. But knowing them, they'd prolly start with the TFa ver with red arm as they can't be stepping on SS' toes by releasing the OT ver.
