So I take it no one has received a reply from Sideshow concerning the error in the thumbs? I was waiting to hear, but I decided to send an e-mail today directly to someone who has helped me with several issues in the past. Let's see if I get a reply.... :) Although I won't hold my breathe! :tap

In addition to sending emails post to their Facebook page. Pressure in public will make them address the issue faster than they would when only getting emails.

How do you add a post to their page? When I pull it up there isn't an option to leave one.

I got mine yesterday. As a huge C-3PO fan and costumer, I am slightly disappointed. We waited so long for this figure, years!

Some issues I have:
- overall he looks good
- I would have liked to have seen a better finish. He has a fine metallic finish, as opposed to chromed. I would have liked to have seen him vac metallized.
- my eyes (thankfully) seem to be aligned and light up decently
- agreed on the comments about the elbow articulation, I think they should have used metal pistons for easier movement
- the knee articulation could be better. On the screen 3PO, the rear upper calf is slightly lower allowing for little more movement. Yes, I know fair and well he's not a gymnast, but there is a little room there

The biggest issue: the hands. They are awful.

The thumbs are glued in or molded at the wrong angle. He cannot close his hands properly at all.

My left hand is mangled. Almost all the fingers are misaligned, especially the pinky. He cannot close this hand at all.

I have sent an email and the photos to Sideshow. I hope they respond with a solution for customers.

See photos below.

Now you can only comment on their posts. You can't add a customer comment to their page like you used to. They disabled that feature (probably due to complaints about quality and skyrocketing prices). Here's their page for those who don't know it: https://www.facebook.com/sideshowcollectibles/
Also, tag them in your comment so they are made aware of it (usually page owners are notified when someone tags them in a comment).

Thanks.

Got my 3po today. Common defect......has broken arm joint. This is 4/4 sideshow figures which have had problems (sigh). Does anyone know if you can just remove the arm for a replacement as I don't really fancy sending it back all the way from UK.

Thanks for letting me know. Why can't sideshow just have better qc. I'm not a hot toys fan boy or anything but I've never once had any breaks or issues with any of those.....well except the boxes they always seem to arrive with creases, crinkles or dents.

Hot Toys is far from perfect. Alice shipped with no jacket. Zipper missing off Technoir Terminators jacket. Begins Batman with broken ankles. Reeve Superman with crooked chest logo.

What matters is getting the defect taken care of, which SS does.

I'm in the same boat. Submitted something to CS on Monday and still no word back about replacing the arm. And of course their chat feature still doesn't work.

EDIT:
So, I called, and they said they are just swamped. But my request was in the system. She estimated it'd be about 24-48 hours before they got to it in the queue. So that might help others based on when they submitted their claim as far as when they'll get a replacement.

For those of you who are getting replacement arms, is it because of the thumb issues or because the arm is in fact broken. Mine had the same thumb issue everyone else has so just curious if SSC it just replacing the whole arm to fix the issue. Thanks

My base had a crack in it out of the box. I just heard back from SSC that they're replacing that. So, they are getting to these requests.

That is exactly how my thumbs look. Is this true for all or just some?

Seems to be a production issue... so I would not expect it to be replaced. You could possibly get a full refund, but also possible they would only offer a refund less shipping since it's "how the figure is supposed to be".

With the number of broken pistons reported here it's no wonder they are swamped; they really should have opted for foam like they did with Grievous. Or have something specifically molded in the plastic tray to keep the pistons from breaking off.

Ok thanks, and agreed. They will regret cutting corners with this one.
