In the HT thread its been suggested that the SPEEDER BIKE is on its way (means SCOUT TROOPER too), and that HT DX HAN SOLO has been fast tracked because of Disney.

I would hope for both those things.

 really really hope those rumors are true!

I'm glad this guy is being released, but I'm going to give it a skip since I already have the Tamashi one and medi ver 2 one. If I didn't have the medi version I'd pick this guy up for other display options. It's a shame Tamashi didn't get to finish the R2, would have bene great to have both sets.

It will be interesting to see how they make the mid section of this figure - whether they use real wires or painted ones.

Few things. one being that the 1/6th figure is primairlay a shrunk down version of the PF, which unless I'm mistaken had all of that?

Another is looking at how they're designed in the image that we have been teased, even with its washed out Photoshop effects, we can still see pivit points and hinges. As well as a rised section surrounded the upper arm piston, likely to reinforce the sliding mechanisim.

Top off all that with the nessecary RnD Time that this guy has seen, and the fact that he's releasing AFTER the Tamashii figure.

So i'll revise my original statement. It's far more likely that he wILL have them than won't. All signs point to it.
I was just being a smart arse.. & you had to write a thesis for a retort - how very Lerath of you. :moon

So I know this thing is going to be plastic, but I'm really hoping they can include just a little bit of zamac in it, what do you say Lerath? :monkey3

Very exciting announcement...
Hope they offer two versions.... one shiny and one weathered.
I'd go for the weathered one. Sideshow just keeps getting better and better with that, as Grîevous and each successive Clone release illustrates.
Can't wait to see the SDCC floor pics of this one!

most likely going to me plamac. It's a fairly low grade injection molded plastic rubber combination. Used mostly in the manufacture of condoms and Mattel motuc hands and weapons.

I can't see why properly scaled, working, pistons would be such an engineering hurdle for SS...NECA and Diamond Select pulled it off on their Robocop and Cylon figures at half the scale. :dunno

It's not an issue. The Tamashii people are just nervous that the SS version of 3PO will be a challenge to their momentarily superior figure. If you like a heavy metal figure, then the Tamashii will surely remain superior. If you're OK with plastic, then we shall see which is better.

I haven't heard anyone say the metal Iron Men figures are better than the plastic ones. In fact, all I've heard is that you can't get the refinement in metal that you can in plastic.

Agreed. If this c3po figure does not have working pistons it will be the first mod in this thread. There are people on this site that will quickly realize there's a buck to be made selling piston kits. It will not be a problem.

Having said that, we've all seen R2-D2. Do we really think threepio is going to be a lesser effort?

Honestly I don't think anyone that owns the Tamashii is afraid of SSC's showing it up. If somehow SSC's is considered a better figure by the majority of SW collectors, it certainly won't bother me. I'd love for Sideshow to hit it out of the park, and will most likely pick up their 3PO and keep my Tamashii. There's room for both, especially if SSC's is weathered.

In regards to IM, the diecast actually have improved articulation over the plastic ones and they've received a lot of praise. Personally I really like the WM MK II a lot. Really glad I picked it up, though I wouldn't want HT to necessarily go diecast for everything.
