Snoozed on this the first time, about to take the dive. Is anyone displaying this in a detolf? I'd like to see how it looks.

To put in a detolf you likely need an acrylic rod cut far shorter than the original rod. I did that once but it was too stuffed in there. Don't think I took any pics.

Yep, you would want to modify the Detolf shelf height to give this piece some clearance. I've seen the rod modified shorter to accomodate unadjustable shelving but IMO it really detracts from the figure. It needs some space for the arms to hang naturally. Otherwise it looks scunched in.

And for anyone on the fence (re-release quibbles aside), I'd definitely recommend buying. Bots don't get anymore iconic than the Probe Droid and it's one SSC piece that is on par with the best of the best from any 1:6 company. This and Tamashii 3PO are my two favourite pieces of anything SW I've bought.

Just ordered one of these from BBTS. I had been looking last week at the ebay prices for the first release Probe Droid...yikes. This is really good news to be able to get one of these. I'm going to begin looking for a clear acrylic rod and start building a custom snow base which will be lacking from this one outta the box. I have been reading The Making Of The Empire Strikes Back book and have been inspired towards this project. Got to find a TaunTaun now.

I just ordered one for a photoshoot I have in mind. I'm glad they re-released it and I don't need the Hoth base. I wasn't collecting 1/6 when it first came out and I really didn't want to pay ebay prices for it.

BBTS has you covered for Taun Taun as well

Thanks for the heads up Darkseed.Hope they still have one after Christmas. Won't be able to get one until then, and am not sure how to check how many they actually have in stock. Maybe something will sell on my for sale thread in the meantime.

On an acrylic rod in a Detolf.

more than 24 you are safe.

Hi hokietwo. Thanks for checking that for me! wow...that sounds pretty promising for being able to get one after all the Xmas festivities. I thought it would be a lot more difficult to pick one of these up for retail.

Sure they've released say two Mark III's, but they're completely different figures (original and diecast). When the underlying figure is the same (such as Python, currently in the banner), then it's a repaint. They've never just straight re-released a sold out figure.
I though they did I'd way back in the beginning. I remember there was a big stink about the new one. This was 4-5 years ago maybe.

Great looking display. I really like the snow base for the PD. The Snowtrooper looks like he's in the middle of throwing a snowball! :wink1:
I had to spread out the spare hands from my SSC snow trooper on a few other snowtrooper customs so they were the only two hands I had left for the Commander.

They made a Mark I 2.0 and a Mark II 2.0. But completely retooled and improved the offering. They released a BD Mark III and it is the worst Iron Man figure ever made by HT. To date they have never just straight re-released the same mark.

Very cool Hoth setup! :rock

I've managed to stay away from all of the Hoth releases so far (display space issues) but will definitely pick up the Probe Droid.

Is this Sideshow's last ditch effort at making some quick cash before they bow out of 1/6 Star Wars? Seems so strange for them to go back and re release previously sold out products, with a few alterations.

Maybe they think because HT are doing Iron Man Die Cast releases that they can do something similar with their good sellers?

I'd prefer if SSC looked into some new licences or revisited some of their old ones and improved on them.

The Boba Fett release seems a bit weird and like a money grab--especially since it's more expensive and has fewer accessories.

This one, in all honesty, seems helpful for folks who missed it. It's a much more recent release and it's not like it's a hugely popular character like Boba. I don't think they have any characters that they could do a straight rerelease anymore. Boba and snowtrooper are the only ones that seem good enough to release again. 2.0 versions like they've done with Maul is probably more what we can expect. Maybe a Death Star trooper and a Death Star gunner.

It's possible the probe droid is in TFA and that's why they've re-released it--I know I'm the first trailer where you see Boyega pop up you hear what sounds like a probe droid in the background.

Star Wars is all about family - the one in TFA will be the son of the one Han killed on Hoth. He's coming after Han for revenge - that's why Rey's crying in the trailer.
