Looks badass but I'm sticking with my original setup, it still gets the most "whoas!!" & "holy **** that's awesomes" than my other collectibles. While the dewback and yodas hut get props too, the hutt still reigns supreme. If I didn't get the original I would buy this. I'm sure everyone that buys this will be blown away as much as the first one did.

I'm amazed this topic is 37 pages deep in just a couple of days.

I overall like what I'm seeing but his price is just too heavy. Even though a 400-500 bucks figure is too much for me, I'd consider it for someone like Jabba. But 800? Not possible. I don't know about Hot Toys version being cheaper. Better? Probably? Cheaper? Probably pretty close to be honest.

Yeah, I think even high 500's might have been kind of fair and maybe doable on this guy, but $800 is like the last few Sideshow figures - obviously priced 25% too high, especially knowing that the final product just won't match the prototype in quality. That's no knock against Sideshow - it's just the reality of the last several years.

The paint app on Jabba is just too complex and subtle (lots of graded shades of green and orange) - so this one will come out noticeably different to what has been shown. Anyone buying this has to accept that going in.

The facial gaps are anyone's guess - the SSC Tauntaun's swap out neck had a subtle gap in the proto, but a quite noticeable gap on the prod piece, but that was polystone whereas this is supposedly PVC, so might be a tighter fit. But fine tolerances on things like this are not Sideshow's strong point.

It's a cool and surprising release to be sure, and I for one am so glad to see Sideshow making such a bold commitment to 1/6 SW (it opens the possibility for figs such as Ackbar etc., especially with Dengar coming out pretty well) but there's a lot of reason for caution, including the reality that there will almost ceratinly be a HT Jabba by year's end, even if it's a Solo one. The bizarre/sudden rushed P.O. of this set all but confirms that Ht is announcing later this year.

It will be very interesting actually. As HT has sort of entered ESB and ROTJ at the same time. And also with a pretty good chance that a Solo AND OT version of Lando will be done by HT. I'm wondering if they go with an ESB Lando or ROTJ Lando to potentially go with a piece like Jabba (from HT). Very interesting times.

This is amazing! I've always wanted to do this for my setup.

That's a dream set-up for any Star Wars fan, flying Dutchman.

Beautiful display, flying dDutchman!

Wow... amazing set up! ✨

I really don't know what are you doing here Dutchman. I would stare on this beautiful setup a whole day everyday :D

Unfortunately I am an impatient person so the way I see it HT’s has to at least preview their Jabba before in-hand pics come out. If the in-hand pics look good and the seams aren’t terribly noticeable I will get this. The proto looks really good minus the straight tail and seams but the size and overall coolness factor put it over the edge for me. Hopefully it doesn’t sell out and the production model lives up to the proto.

Btw Awesome display Dutchman!

Flying Dutchman that is the best Jabba setup I've ever seen. I remember you posting your project years ago on this forum. That's a thing of beauty!

Always nice to get positive feedback on here.....thanks you guys!!

What I miss is a bikini Leia and/or Oola sitting in front of Jabba....that would finish of the diorama.

I know that both Forbidden Planets are a joke when it comes to pricing and creating fake RRPs, but FP.com is taking a whole packet of biscuits with Jabba:

£799.99 (RRP £879.99) + £5.50 delivery.

:lol

Cheapest place I found in the UK was CDUK at £680 including delivery.

Lee is a top retailer and I had reward points in my account, so that's where I ordered a few days ago. It'll also earn RPs, and it's better than wasting my Sideshow RPs which would only have been eaten up by the as yet unknown shipping, 20% VAT on Jabba and shipping and 4.5% Duty on Jabba.

Original Jabba is still surprisingly good.

I searched the old Jabba thread to remember exactly how much he cost: £48 including delivery on Ebay, because nobody else bothered to bid.

I never saw the throne anywhere near that cheap though.

Yeah, Jabba was only $120 direct from Sideshow and could be had for easily under $100 for quite some time in the years after it came out. It's a superb sculpt and was a steal of a deal back then.

The throne was always much tougher because of the weight and size of box but I seem to recall they made more of the throne than they did the Jabba figure (which I never understood.) For some reason it just never seemed to show up as much as the Jabba fig.

Like nearly all of Sideshow's older stuff it's harder to find Jabba dirt cheap anymore - sometime around 3 or 4 years ago I noticed all of Sideshow's older stuff started getting more expensive.

It's crazy how cheap things used to be. I know the sculpts and bodies weren't very good, but my first Sideshow figures were only £20-£25 each.

Things seemed to change around the time Lando and the Stormtrooper appeared. And they've just gone up and up since. I'm addicted so there's no going back. It wasn't too hard ordering the new Jabba though - he pretty much ordered himself.

Now that the problem of two Jabbas and one throne will come up once again, I was wondering what his sail barge throne looked like.

You don't get to see it clearly in the film but it looks like a simple platform covered in cloth, and decorated with rugs and cushions:

The Hasbro prototype confirmas that:

Hence it seems simple to replicate, just to give him a platform to sit on, but for the back and arm rest.

Yeah I think I paid about $75 Canadian dollars (+ maybe $10 shipping) for mine back in the day. I remember the seller had 4 or 5 for sale. He didn’t have any thrones. I think I looked for years to find a throne but could never find one for under $400 here in Canada. I ended selling the Jabba because he didn’t feel complete and I was focusing on Hot Toys Batman stuff more. I really regret selling all of my old Sideshow figures. Jedi Luke is still one of my favourite pieces to this day.

Flying Dutchman, your set-up is awe-inspiring - it looks fantastic!

While my set-up isn't near as comprehensive and gorgeous in detail, I'm still quite satisfied with what I've got:

JABBA THRONE ROOM 001.jpg

If that price were lower and the lead-time allowed for seeing it in some convention shots over the summer before committing, I'd be more tempted on this new release. That said, while my set-up may look a little dated by today's 1:6 standards, I still think it looks pretty good.

I'm getting a "Snowspeeder Luke" vibe from this - a really expensive offering that ends up with an extremely small edition size making it a very elitist release and a monster on the aftermarket. If that's the case, it sure takes the fun out of it, especially when the final offering has a much different quality than the much-ballyhooed prototype. Don't get me wrong-I'm kicking myself for not jumping on the Snowspeeder Luke when it was available (I have every other Sideshow Hoth-inspired release), but that gasp-inducing price held me back until it was quickly "unavailable" upon release, and no real availability as an "in-stock" item. I see that happening here with this Jabba. The Luke figure looked good in what few "in-hand" shots are floating around, but not like the promise of the proto inferred by that price. Bet Jabba ends up the same.

Yeah, they made 4000 Jabba and 4200 throne.... I never quite understood that either.

That’s the edition numbered size? Don’t think they actually produced all of them. Otherwise there would be more of them for sale out there instead of the single Jabbas we see for sale. I don’t think anyone would own the throne without Jabba.

Sideshow did produce more Jabba's than the throne. The regular Jabba was 4000, then there was also the "inclusive edition", the exclusive version that came with an extra "Ornate Toasting Cup" (which I own) . I'm sure there were more than only 200 of the Inclusive Edition with the cup, so there are more Jabba's than the 4200 thrones.

Here's the listing for the inclusive, as you can see no production number like the regular.

https://www.sideshowtoy.com/collectibles/product-archive/?sku=21461 (take off the one at the end to see the regular edition of 4000)

Also just as an FYI, if you ever want to know if there is a SS Ex of something simply add a 1 to the end of the product number/sku, and for the opposite subtract the 1 at the end.

They never gave their Inclusive Editions a number. They were basically the Exclusive version. Never quite understood why they called it Inclusive rather than an Exclusive. The only three I can recall were Jabba & Darth Maul & Sith probe droids (they came with a sand topper for the base, Maul came with broken saber just like the newer Exclusive).

The repaint on my original is the only thing stopping me from preordering this Hutt... barely...

Back then the exclusives sold out really fast, so they'd hold inclusive edition sales for a limited time where everybody had the chance to own the version with the bonus item for certain characters. At least that's how I remember it.

I would bet the snowspeeder luke gets a re-release just like fett, bossk, ig 88, the scout trooper, darth vader, the probe droid, the speeder bike and now jabba have.

True, but they never gave production numbers. Up until recently when they just changed everything to a "limited edition" (meaning they could produce as many as orders warranted) and stopped giving edition numbers, every Sideshow product had a number except for these few Inclusive Editions. So there's no way to know how many are actually out there...
