Yeah, other than wallet pain, that's one of the biggest other issues with the constant major price rises (and where prices will be by end of next year) - we've entered a pricepoint range where so many of the fun SW background characters just aren't viable anymore. Who would pay $250+ for a 1/6 Nien Numb? I probably still would, but most casual SW or 1/6 fans wouldn't.

Then again, I was surprised Dengar sold out at his price point, though he was a pretty complex figure, one of the "big four" hunters and also necessary to complete a BH line-up.

I've never heard of the "big four" for bounty hunters? Who doesn't make the cut from that scene? 4-LOM and Zuckuss? I always felt there was Boba and then the others were basically interchangable.

Yeah, I've mentioned it before, but Starlog, Topps and Kenner were just as important in framing the hunters to fans as the movie was (maybe more so, because it's very brief onscreen and there was no video until years later.

So pics like the one below (variations of which were in fanzines and promos endlessly) set up the "big four" even though in reality Zuckuss and 4-LOM are more visible than Dengar onscreen.

Kenner released Fett between SW and ESB, put IG and Bossk in the first ESB wave (that came out when the movie launched,) and Dengar in the wave that followed pretty shortly thereafter. 4-LOM and Zuckuss were in the last ESB wave, which from memory was like a year or two later, which for me further separated those two from the "big four."

While I like them all equally now, most seem to consider 4-LOm and Zuckuss as not as "core" as Fett, IG, Bossk and Dengar - they certainly aren't as unique/cool design-wise as the "big four."

Pretty sure I had that Topps card which is why I probably have always been more dismissive of 4-Lom and Zuckuss. I passed on their Sideshow figures too and bought all the rest. I kind of regret it now, but by the time I changed my mind 4-Lom was gone. So there was no reason to get Zuckuss at that point.

The often forgotten "5th member" of the Gathering of Evil -- seen hidden behind Dengar above.

No, that's not a Death Star Trooper... It's Inkis Stain... no one living has seen his full visage....

Of course it is Death Star Trooper. You can clearly see the helmet and part of the face.

Yeah, they certainly were on budget for the bounty hunters scene (I seem to recall the costumes book states they only spent $1000 on the lesser hunters each.) My SW buddy (who knows more than me about SW) swears the ATAT-stormie hybrid costume visible in the Bespin trash room is a rejected bounty hunter design. he's like the fifth Beatle.:lol It's a re-styled ATAT driver helmet (with pieces covering the imperial logos and red tape moved to the front) that has Luke's blast shield over the eyes and bits of metallic stormie armor with heavy blaster damage and kind of metal clubs for hands. No idea if that's true, probably just a melange dressed to look like a junked droid, though redeco-ed versions of IG and Zuckuss are in there.

I think Wor-gar's right, though I think Leland Chee identified him as Underrware Stain.:lol

You mean the two bugged eyes bounty hunters. :lol

4-LOM should have been Zuckuss's 'hunt droid'.

I agree, 4-LOM has always been my least favorite.
You have a mysterious masked man, a deadly looking droid, a rough battle scarred human, a weird insectoid, a brutish reptilian, and then ummm another bug droid. He just seems less original.

It also seems odd that they used a protocol droid body, after the first film already cemented 3PO's personality.

Regardless I'm excited and anxious for Jabba, I think I'm like one of four people that preordered it.

4-LOM has always been the weakest to me. Had Zuckuss as a kid (4-LOM in Kenner’s eyes) so he stood a notch above, I’d say he’d be equal with or top Dengar if 4-LOM didn’t exist.

The irony is (before the HT ESB Fett came out that is) I'd say the Sideshow 4-LOM is the best done 1/6 bounty hunter figure.

I really had little interest in getting it but got a great deal, and was totally blown away by it.

I got a notice from PC Australia with a Feb 29 release, they normally get product from SS a month later. So release should be imminent.

Where is the 1/6 Lando in skiff gear preorder? If anything they should be promoting him with Jabba!

You could get away with a repaint on the initial sculpt, but I'd love to see a new one. Likely if they redo, it will simply be "better paintwork"... hopefully. I would also hope they lose the shocked expression with the wide eyes.

But yes, the entire robe could use new material.

I don’t remember who’s Bib this is but the sculpt looks solid with a repaint. Though the seams could use some sanding.

I guess that's for people a few years older than me (no offense haha), I never partitioned the bounty hunters beyond Boba and the rest. I'm 36 and never had ant Topps cards.

Zuckuss is far cooler looking than bandage-man Dengar.

Dengar always looked 'hurt' to me.

I definitely agree, Zuckuss is a very original design. I have to say it was years before I realized 4-LOM was just a redesigned protocol droid; maybe that had to do with him being missing from the big 4! Haha.

No offense taken - I was there in 1980 to see ESB debut on the big screen. Nothing to be embarrassed about there.:dunno:lol

But yeah, in the 1980s (pre video, pre internet) fanzines and stuff like Topps cards were the way SW fans stayed in touch with the movies. And certainly by the 1990s LFL had more than taken care of the inequity regarding 4-LOM and Zuckuss - we probably had their entire family trees and life stories by 1995.:lol

Now that's interesting!

Yeah, it's a cool idea and maybe in the realm of possibility as it sounds like they had a "jumble a bunch of stuff we've already got and create something" approach to creating the hunters. It'd be a cool design too.
