Wait, no. It's people like you who will buy anything that makes these companies think they can throw whatever inaccurate trash they feel like at us, with no fear of suffering the consequences of having crossed the Internet Caliper Police.

Close enough for me too. In the Medi pic 3PO is on a stand. They are both under sized for 1/6 but not that far off when displayed together. I currently have the Hasbro displayed with the Bandai 3PO and R2 is too small. I am really hoping this R2 is better in scale and much better quality. I don't have plans of getting the SSC 3PO and hope it stays that way. I love Star Wars and the amount of OT stuff coming has blissfully painful.

I feel bad :(

Yeah the height looks perfectly fine to me. Unless R2 and 3PO are both too short or something.

BTW I've always wondered, what's the story behind the all-white body on R2 in that shot? Is it just the way the sun is reflecting off the blue that makes it look that way? Or is this an early promo shot with an unpainted R2 body?

It's been bugging me since I was a kid. Lol

That's a great question. Maybe just a bunch of sand and grime before Luke cleans him up:dunno

Seems like a good place for this...in case you plan to cancel R2...

The biggest issue with the R2 3po height is 3po. He is to tall. They say he is 12" tall if thats true he is 2/3" too tall.

"Later" in HT terms sounds like a long wait.

Likely they'll do TFA R2 and 3PO first, then you have to wait a year for that to be delivered, factor in the 3 month delay, then you'll see a preview for the OT R2 and 3PO towards the end of 2016 which will then be another year away, plus up to 3 month delay.

But it's Hot Toyzzz, there always worth the wait.

I can see some 3PO variation for TFA, but there was no difference (except pop-up stuff) between prequel and classic R2 was there?

Had Howard stated "SSC have done a great job so we see no need to do another version" I think I'd be more comforted. As I posted in the 3PO thread, I'm just remembering the Tama/SSC 3PO versus SSC 3PO thing, and I don't see how "we will see later" = "sounds like a long wait."

I'm getting the SSC R2 (should already have it :gah:) but the price with a $20 coupon is a steal, the figure looks totally awesome and comes with a very generous array of extras, so I feel like that's the best comfort against a potential HT release of R2. HT R2 will be $200 and released in two years time and won't come with the extras.

My only nagging concern is that this SSC R2 is almost 100% certain to be a little undersized, but hey - look what HT Vader just proved in terms of height. HT R2 may have the same (LFL mandated?) height problems the SSC R2 likely does.

Even if HT never did a 3PO and R2, if the SSC versions sell well, I'd expect SSC to revisit them again in the future. There's no sense in not producing a new version when a previous one is no longer (readily) available. Imagine Hasbro only did one version of a scene/movie-specific character?

SSC announced their 3PO while Tama/SSC 3PO was still readily available (it had sold out on SSC's actual site, but only just,) and 12-18 months after the Tama/SSC release. Would have to look up the exact timing, but it was "too close" in the context of release timings we are discussing.

I guess this is coming down to what people consider a comfortable time period to "revisit" a figure. My guess is that things are accelerating and that timeframe is shorter than it was, and shorter than most people assume. People probably used to think 3-4 years was comfortable but my guess is it's now 18 months to 2 years, especially for the more popular characters.
