QUICK REVIEW:
1. SEAM - its dark here and light is gone but I really have to look to find it on mine. Not a problem here.
2. FRAGILE - nerve-racking to hold and fiddle around with without that lightsaber tool. Pushing open doors on the head -- for the telescoping action -- will make you sweat. If you have fat fingers you are dead.
3. LOOSENESS - mine anyway, the feet are solid and the legs are solid and hold their poses leaning forward or back. Projector lenses are stiff but all move. All the doors remain closed which is great -- except the only loosey-goosey thing on mine is the lower blue arm (those things that R2 never used). If I tip the figure over, that arm swings open. But everything else is good so far. Wheels roll well, no sticking. The third leg pops in and out easily.
4. OPENING HEAD - you need to hold the lower swivel portion while twisting the head off. Just remember that, it won't make sense until you have it. Otherwise you will find yourself jut turning and turning and turning. It is not explained well in the instructions.
5. PERISCOPE ITEMS - they scare me. Will only play with them once. They pull out father then shown, at least the periscope did, but they are very loose and you have to twist and turn to make them hold position. A little bump will likely make them drop.
6. THE LIGHTS - love them! They blink and move and change colors and operate via touch. Best gimmick on the figure!!! Although, you will find when playing with it that you keep turning on and off the lights while working. So maybe leave them off until ready.
7. THE LOOK - the detail is sharp, the paintwork (at night) looks great. The weathering looks good, he's definitely dirty but not muddy in places, just dirty overall. The "scratch" along the side of the center eye doesn't bother me -- it's really small in hand. I wish the blue paint was a little more vivid and metallic. I also wish the little brass tubes on his feet were real tubing and not very brittle plastic.
Overall: Love it so far. Eager to see it in daylight. Sitting in front of me on my desk its a little R2 unit. What's not to love?
Its accurate, its scaled, its brittle, its does everything, and it lights up.
