Very nice, SH. Are you sure that isn't the HT R2 because they sure do look awesome together. :wink1:

And here's a pic to show I'm not just trolling.

PS read your spoiler thoughts, sorry you feel that way, but yeah, this is a very frustrating, fragile and intricate piece -- I'm scared to death of messing with it with my clumsy hands.

Sorry for the crappy lighting.

Day and night with the Taito. I don't see the increased girth with Taito... but I do see much worse seams.

Swedish Heat: sorry to read that review, but I totally get it. This thing has the potential for crapshoot -- if you get a loose one, feet and doors, its likely the aggravation will outweigh being impressed. I have only one arm that wants to hang out. but its annoying still. And I've tried all my hatches once -- never again. The lifescanner frustrates me too -- no way mine can hold its pose. Fortunately for me, I'll never have his head hatches open. Unlikely I'll even use the arm attachments -- maybe one. But static, on the shelf, it really looks terrific. And SS nailed the scale for the most part. Hope they keep it scaled with the upcoming Threepio.

Well my order has gone from processing to shipped..., that was a nice surprise. :) Guessing I'll see it early next week, looking forward to getting the little guy anyway.

This is what I'm just going to drill into my head. R2 will pretty much only be in my Jabba display, and the serving set works well enough. And the extra weathering on R2 makes sense in that display. I will just never use any of the extras. . . which makes me question why I paid for the Ex from SSC. . . oh well, another costly lesson on why I don't order from SSC I thought to myself, "It's a non-human and SSC is good at those", I forgot about IG-88 and how loosey-goosey he was. But again, he just stands there, unposed, so you don't notice the drawbacks.

It's just kind of funny that from the initial pics, the color on the glasses had me dismayed the most, but in hand, it was the least of my concerns. Here's hoping with the price increases, SSC can turn it around.

Yep, its funny like that. Everyone seemed miffed about the seams.... but now it seems no one has mentioned the seams. :D

There's a lot to like and a lot to be frustrated with on R2. Luck of the draw which way your own figure will swing. But for you, with the Jabba serving tray, seems like a win -- no hatches to worry about, and you can still get the HT version one day for a generic hero R2.

Hey hey!!!
I haven't been here in a while!
Just got mine too!
Overall great figure, but really fragile unfortunately...
But sculpt, paint, and details are perfect! Great R2... but still feels a bit cheap...
With that said, mine arrived without one of the panels, so I need to call Sideshow, I hope they can send me only the panel,
don't want to ship the whole figure just for a missing piece...

Really great figure, I'm looking forward to 3PO so much now!!

Missing a panel? That sucks. What's going on with SSC? A few reports of missing pieces. parts?

I remember when I got my Deluxe Vader Ex, it was missing his light sabre! His light sabre! Anyhoo, SSC will replace the part I'm sure as they did with my Vader sabre. Glad you dig it though and welcome back to the fight, K.:)

Exactly. If ssc are pushing up their prices like they are, shoddy QC issues are not going to be accepted by us collectors anymore. I assume these figures are finally assembled by hand, so how hard is it to give the contents of the box a once over inspection before sealing it up.
Can't wait to get mine on friday, but will be really deflated if i open up an R2 that suffers from these type of issues. A loose panel hear or there, ok, a frick'in panel or magnet missing.
NOPE! !
For those of you that received R2 like this, you must be pretty disappointed, and i completely understand why.

It's a pity hat's not how QC works. Or maybe just as well :lol

the problem with manufacturing is that when you look at something over and over again eventually something that should catch your eye becomes invisible. hence missing parts. I use to work in quality control sadly we only look at about 100 things a day. that's coming in,handling and pkg and then going out. it would be helpful if there was an x-ray scanner that would beep if something was missing. Most manufacturing only hire a handful of QC people or it will cut into profit margin.

welcome to the lousy world of retail.Im sure Hot toys fires on the spot if there "sweat shops" i mean manufacturing dept messes one thing out of line. but Sideshow is an American company who isn't going to cane there employee's if they miss something, or cut a finger off if they miss a stitch. that's the difference between democracy and communism. When you get hot toys figures just imagine how many people lost limbs so you can have a 300 dollar toy

I thought you'd get my twisted humor bit there. But I'm probably not far off lol. But seriously in a few years when china seizes control over USA because they own us things like freaks will be shut down. And there won't be much allowed that isn't monitored. We laugh but it is a reality.

Hey, no one but no one is more anti-commie than me (I've had relatives who spent much of their lives living under communism) so I'm not laughing but I'm interested to know whether either Sideshow or Hot Toys use factories that are sweatshops or whether they're contractually obliged to ensure working conditions are humane.

We're used to Sideshow products arriving with missing parts, I hope that's not the case with the workers who make them.

Is that aimed at me, or are you just worried that ******** will jump on you? Everything I said about this figure has been borne out by other people here including yourself. I've lost count of the number of times I've seen the word fragile, which I was the first to use.

Great picture by the way. Many people love the way this looks and I would have kept it if it hadn't had so much grey 'weathering' on it, to me that detracts from the appearance.

Hopefully one day ssc will produce these figures with all the features us collectors want, without the 'break whilst posing nature' that can give us all the 'sweats' at times :):pigfly:
My heart missed a beat or two when i set up grevious for the first time!

Do you know, when I first posted my opinion of this figure all the shouting and screaming made no impression on me at all... but Pixelpiper's comment that the probe droid was more durable than it appeared did actually make me wonder if R2D2 really is that fragile. After all, plenty of rubber Batman suits from Hot Toys have looked like they'd split under the slightest pressure, yet turned out to be incredibly resilient.

That said, I think Wor-Gar got it spot on when he said that he was frightened to touch the panels on top of the dome. We all know these things are fragile, and you wouldn't exactly give them to a kid to play with, but when something makes you worried it will break if used correctly then it takes away the fun of it - unless, of course, you just want to keep it in a detolf or 'MIMSB' (but where's the fun in that?).
