Great looking figure but feels fragile. Would have like the panels on the dome to be easier to open. Here's a picture of him next to my Tamashi 3PO.

Did anyone have any luck trying to store the lightsaber in the dome? I can't quite figure it out and too scared. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1423961022.434613.jpg

It only fits one way, which is the end with the small rectangular piece I believe...once you fit it in, you'll feel it fits in spring loaded...after that just slide the hatch closed bro...hope that helps

This little guy is amazing next to ThreePO

What a great pic! Not sure what you did to make it look like that, but it looks like a 1977 promo pic. They both look spot-on. :clap

Yeah, all my doors are loose especially the blue panels. Those just come open if you pick it up. I too would have preferred something of a more robust build and scrap the extras.

I've had my eye on the Taito for a long time but never bit mainly because it's so expensive at this point, not to mention hard to find. If I were to find one for ultra cheap I'd consider one. I'd want it just for a project. Give it a repaint and anything else to bring it up to snuff.

Taito R2 is good, but the dome is off by quite a bit - it's not just the paint that needs fixing. Different details on the dome are wrong, some very noticeably so (eg. the red light at the front is WAY too small) The feet are also too small, but not a big deal there. The details on the chest/barrel are also nowhere near as crisp as the SSC. It's a remarkable piece for a clock, and just happens to be exactly the right size, but it does feel a bit out of place on a shelf with HT figs and the best SSC can do when you pay attention to it.

Is there a trick to keeping the lightsaber hatch open? I can't seem to get it to catch on anything.
Yeah I can't seem to get the hatch on the dome open to put the lightsaber inside and I really don't want to break it so I think I'm just not going to use it.

Thanks bro! Just good ol lightin and a little tweaking in LightRoom....lol

Being a photographer and getting into collecting these figures is expensive but soooo much fun....I just find myself taking pics of all the details all the time. :lol

My old medi versions. Still look good in my opinion.

In terms of the SS version they shouldn't have made the flaps on the dome all magnetic as opposed to spring loaded. The lightsaber needs to be a stronger magnet too. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1423979550.405155.jpg

Really nice touch in the display having those signed labels in there :rock

Did the weathering removal with the %91 isopropyl alcohol. I think he looks a hell of a lot better but holy moly that alcohol tastes awful.......:yuck

I'm starting to agree with those who think he should have come with a sound feature. It just looks weird to see those lights flashing and not have any corresponding sound to go with it.

Although I gotta give Sideshow props for making it so incredibly damn easy to activate the lights for once. It's a huge relief not to have to lift up a back panel or hunt around for a tiny switch or remove the back of a head or something.

Tiny little sounds coming from a series of unwanted speaker holes. Not something I want as part of most figures. If it adds to the cost or delays I'd rather not have it.

It moves the needle away from "collectable" and towards "toy", where things are expected to be rugged and overbuilt - resulting in design compromises.

I don't think it's going to be so easy behind glass. ;) I'm also worried that it won't be possible to get them to come on automatically when hardwired for power due to a possibility of the solid state switching always starting OFF.
