Sideshow 1/6 Starcraft Raynor Figure

In Sideshows defense, I'm pretty sure blizzard has a hefty licensing fee so that factors into this. On top of that, comparing ironmonger and his pricing to this, I'm also pretty sure HT has the digital versions of the HD suits to work off which helps with the proto. If you look at starcraft, the game isn't as detailed as this figure is. So the sculptors probably had a lot of hands on work to do with this. Not to mention the actual legit engineering of it.

Everyone is throwing a fit over price when the only thing they know about the figure is from photographs and crappy video from SDCC. No one's actually held this guy in their hands and gone through every bell and whistle. For all we know, the amount of engineering and detail work that went into this could very well be beyond anything HT has done.

Me personally, I've wanted a starcraft marine ever since I played the first game so many many years ago and blizzard released the crappy blue marine and warpig marine that sold out pretty quick. The fact we are getting a figure like we are is mind blowing. I never in my life thought I would see this figure. I always figured the best we'd get is those 8inch figures a couple years ago.

Now the price does suck but I highly doubt this is some $50 figure marked up to $500. I'D love to have both Jim and Tychus but if I can only have one, that's more than fine.

For all those people that are completely turned off by the price because it's too expensive or they can't afford it. Simply don't buy the figure. No one has a gun to your head. Hell, if he barely sells, maybe you'll get him later on sale and at a discount.

your first point is fair, but the reality is that doesnt matter to me as a consumer, I shouldnt have to justify my $ by examining hypotheticals of what theyre doing behind closed doors. If SS wants to share that info and explain all the work theyve put into it then awesome, they dont though.

I dont see much fit throwing, and youre right, no one has held it or handled it, and SS has done a terrible job showing that off, thats definitely something they should have put more effort into to help A) build consumer confidence and B) add sales.

The price is high, $500 is a lot for this scale, as I said earlier I debated at that price but now that our $ has tanked its significantly more add shipping and its at the point of ridiculous (not SS's fault I know).

and lastly people simply have low to no confidence in SS, they rarely put out a product that is on par with their Proto's, so the money for what youre going to end up with is just not satisfactory.

If people want it and have the money then by all means its completely your call... but people are going to discuss and ***** about it.

I think it's a beautiful looking figure, don't get me wrong. I'm just miffed because I would like to buy it but I can't based off that ridiculous price. There is no justifying it. Even if it was Hot Toys, that's too much. Sideshow is just trying to see what they can get away with by hiking the price up. Do you think more engineering went into this than Iron Monger or Atlas? Plus, I'm sure both licenses were not cheap for those other properties. I might be wrong, but it seems like it was an experiment to see how much they could squeeze out of their customers. But, that's just business so I get it in way. I just wish they had not tried on a figure I would have really liked. On the other hand, I think their latest Batman is a giant step in the right direction.

It is a very complicated figure, with a large number of individual parts--and for Sideshow they've never done a 1/6th figure like this. Remember development costs for Sideshow are higher than places like Hot Toys. still, cost of this should probably be around $400 max
I'm still getting it because I love Starcraft, but it's definitely expensive. Still excited about the Kerrigan statue which is much cheaper too.

That is one of the worst parts.
As much as you can debate on the look / price of the proto, lately it seems like their production pieces are just...meh. Almost like these should cost half of the asking price.

Those Alien bust that just came out. With what I seen in hand, it was a 200 dollar piece, not 350 - 400.

FYI Sideshow worked with Big Shot Toyworks for this piece (sculpt and development of the suit) so that's increase the final price too.

If he comes down in price, maybe I will scoop him up just to have a big Space Marine from Starcraft. Then the fact that it is the black armor and I can flip the visor down so it shows just the skull visor is an awesome bonus.

Well, when the bare-bones Red 5 release is $240, this seems like a steal at $500

I've no interest in the property or figure, but it's very awesome looking and I imagine a large part of the cost is the fact that this will not be a big seller for Sideshow and with something this big and complicated if the number of units sold isn't going to be high, then the per unit cost is going to go up. Even at $500 I could see this being a figure that demands quite a bit more once it's sold out.

K, There was a run in the Iron man comics just before this big mandarin Finale... it started off in a post apocalyptic future where the Mandarin ruled and had tony as a servant. Tony's son was a cyborg Warmachine, it was a huge bulky suit and had a skull paint job over the helmet... Raynor would work as a pretty good base toward that concept... I need photoshop
