Nice pickup Davejames, he looks great.

Picked up the same exclusive version from eBay a few weeks back... one of those awesome coupon codes on a best offer and he is indeed very impressive. Definitely needs a dye job and a body swap. I’d like to rework the wrapped feet so he can stand better as Chakaman did on his. Great shots davejames!

Yes, re-wrapping the feet on the new bodies makes a big difference. It looks so much better.

I still need to dye the robes on mine. I have been putting it off.

I was finally able to get my hands on one of these a couple months back. Incredible sculpt and paint which still holds up to figures of today's standards several years since his release.
Body swap and water treatment for now. I still want to dye the outer robe and re-wrap the feet so he can stand properly. I''m not too confident in the slight wobble he has so he'll be using a stand until then. Big thanks to Chakaman and his mods for the help and inspiration.

Did they have those white robes underneath?

What color do you use the mute the salmon color of the outer robe?

Seems like a fun figure to weather and wear down to his ragged glory.

Yeah, 3 layers of robes. I forgot what some did to theirs to change the salmon color. Gotta go back through and hunt this thread and Chaka’s but I was thinking maybe a light bleach then a some sort of grey/beige combo. I add a few rips but they decided to hide in the folds of the pose. I’ll go back and done some more when i attempt the unsalmoming :)

I believe they used Rit dye remover first, and then recolored it by dunking it in watered down tan and gray acrylic paint. That's what I'm planning to try with mine as well, but I haven't got around to it yet.

Yeah, Ive come to really like this figure. The feet are a strange mess and the hands are a bit on the small side, but it has some real shelf presence. It definitely needs either a new body or an extension of the arms - they are a bit thin and stubby. I used to think the head was oversized but someone mentioned that it was kind of like a helmet (ie not bandages applied to the actor's head) so is actually close to correct. I got a robe that doesn't have much salmon color to it, so that does vary.

Yes, head is most definitely not too big

Yeah, those are the pics I was thinking of. I wish the boots/feet were better on the fig when you see those pics. It's nice they tried the real fabric but it's possible a good sculpt might have worked better (even though people seem to say if HT did a Tusken they would use real fabric straps.) You can see the feet in many poses.

Even after switching to a better body, the arms on mine still seem a bit short and stubby because of that big head. But after awhile you don't really notice it as much.

I put some SSC Indy gloved hands on him (you don't even need to repaint them) and it helped. Maybe the Indy hands are a bit oversized and it matches the Tusken head a bit better.:dunno

I do seem to recall that now. I've gotten pretty good with the RIT dyes, so I might just make a taupe/gray concoction and see what happens. My salmon robe is quite salmon as I recall and needs to be cooled down with the gray, then warmed back up with taupe I think.

Did you guys just use a reg narrow shoulder knock-off body for the swap? Do the feet and hands need the usual adjustments to work?

This figure is definitely too good and too OT to just leave in the box tucked away in a dark closet. Not sure where the heck I'll pose him though. My shelves don't really accommodate background SW characters anymore.
