It's funny to me that you constantly bash Hot Toys for endless Batmans and Iron Mans but you praise Sideshow for giving us yet another clone.

Each clone is a different character and only done ONCE :lecture

& sideshow make tons of other products from many other licenses, hot toys delays them or makes hardly them in the first place

For an Iron Man fan, each armor variant is as distinctive and before Star Wars, Sideshow made several other 1:6 lines. Star Wars killed all of them (G.I.Joe being the sole exception, but still very much subordinate).

That you differentiate between a Red Clone and a Green Clone but see no difference between a Red Iron Man and a Gray Iron Man seems deeply flawed to me.

As a collector who entered the hobby at a time when Sideshow was actively creating 12 inch figures from Monty Python, Universal Monsters, Highlander, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, Hogan's Heroes, Spinal Tap, Get Smart, etc, compared to now when they do Star Wars and GI Joe, I strongly disagree that they make 'tons of products from many other licenses'.

But again, why the heck is this thing so expensive, just because of the Bucket?! He even has no clone face head, no phase one or two bucket, just this one special ops helmet. Even Bly has those yellow stripes on his cheeks andGree has that stupid looking twin iro haircut head!?

Very good question!

There doesn't seem to be an answer to this. It's pretty much just because they wanted to.

SS is just charging us more and giving us less. It started with Gree, both Cody and Bly who came before had a portrait and 2 helmets, Gree had a portrait and only one helmet for the same price. Now we get Bacara who doesn't have the portrait and only the helmet and cost $10 more. :gah: :censored :tap

If I follow your argumentation, and I do think you're right, I guess Gree should have been released 2012 along with an ARF-Trooper:
Both movie accurate figures with no head at all. :monkey1

The new Bacara pics look great, and that's a production sample, not my proto. China's got Clones nailed.

THAT'S what I wanted to hear! This thing is a beauty, very movie accurate, and I'm glad this will be what we will get! Quick question, SS: is it a strange feeling to see the Chinese production models capturing your paints so successfully? It must be a source of pride! I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the apps on Grievous!

I think there are a couple of reasons. The trend in 1:6 collectibles right now is to give us the same amount of product at a higher price point. Don't believe me? Look at HT and Medi, they're doing exactly the same thing. Some of this is the weakened dollar the world's economy, some of it is about reaping profit. There are exceptions, like the battle droids, but I think that may come down to the amount of reuse they'll get out of the dies that were created, simply by doing repaints. That's the true reason we've had so many clone variants, Sideshow doesn't have to invest a single penny into R & D and tooling new dies. Bacara involves a helmet that Sideshow really won't be able to revisit in the future, plus some funky new shoulder armor. But, you might say, the other clone commanders had a similar scenario while giving us more extras. Yep. I think that was a way to "ease" us into the new price point, while giving us perceived value. When Cody, Rex, and the like were introduced, prices across the board were lower. Now that prices from other companies and other licenses have risen, Sideshow is trying to scale back on product while keeping price point the same, in the hopes that collectors won't scream "foul" (when they simply jacked up the price on Figrin D'an - a verrrry simple figure that they can reuse for several releases - people got pissed and I think it affected sales. Hence the more reasonably priced Nalan and Ted'n 2-pack.) To be fair to Sideshow, we haven't seen Bacara in phase I armor or without his helmet, either in the films or in the Clone Wars series. There's no reference material to go by and it's a gamble that LFL would approve something that Sideshow "made up" - they're funny that way sometimes. Still, it would have been nice if Sideshow had scaled back the price for this release, but I don't think that's in line with the direction they're trying to head; to be realistic, your Majesty, I'm afraid we are going to have to accept Federation control, for the time being...

I gotta stay out of this thread, I've had my finger on the trigger for at least 10 minutes now.

Huh? I just checked again and only the Ex is listed for June. The regular still for May :dunno

I only checked the regular, maybe they didn't update the page? At any rate I doubt the regular would come out before the Ex, so I would think it has been pushed back to June for both. :panic: Only have him and Fett on order, so it looks like a 2 and 1/2 month wait for any new figures for me. :impatient:
