This is one of the coolest projects I've seen around here in a while. It's been fun watching it develop.

Seven, eight, better stay up late.

Seven, eight, better stay up late.

Cause I sure will be to get this done. All the pieces are set. All I have to do is place everything into the Furnace, make a few final solder connections, and put the door back on for good. In the mean time...

Fortunately, my digital camera takes video with sound (not great sound) I just discoverd, so you can see the flickering action. There really isn't anything to hear in this video as I didn't know it would have sound when I recorded it.

Holy Crap! That looks great already! I can't wait to see it in the furnace completed! If I had a second furnace, I'd totally send it your way for an upgrade. But I'm just one of those weirdos that likes to keep things "as is" unless I get a second. I wish I'd gotten a second when they were ONLY $40! And people thought that was so expensive back then :lol

:eek

It's really an incredible piece of work so far. You can tell this project has been really well thought out, and that's paying off!

now we need one in 1/4 scale :naughty

That's awesome Surfer, this will be the Freddy collectable.

Nine, ten, never sleep again.

Nine, ten, SilentSurfer does it again.

A couple last shots of the interior with both the LED tray and ember plate inserted before the door gets glued back on.

With a little outside light coming in, the plate looks its best. You can still see lots of the red and black.

But despite how bright the ember plate is, washing out a lot of the red when sealed in the dark, it still doesn't create a lot of ambient light to shine out of the slits in the door, so I gave the black interior a coat of golden/copper, but being pitted foam, it really doesn't do much to reflect light. It only helped a little. It really does its job right with all the lights real low in the room.

Overall it's incredibly awesome effect, and well worth the effort, though I wouldn't be too eager to do it all again.

I'll usually be looking at it sitting on a desk, and see into it from this downward angel. That was really the reason I didn't go for a flame effect, but a smoldering ember effect instead, with a child's burnt skull.

Sorry this video is so dark, but you get the feel of the furnace being the only light. I'll take a better video tomorrow. It's 2:14am. I'm going to bed. "Unpleasant dreams." -Elvira

Awesome work on the Furnace! It came out spectacular! Its little things like a simple light up display that raise the awesomeness of a piece so much! I realize a LOT of work went into this, but it would have been so easy for Sideshow to do. So Fail for them, and EPIC WIN for you! I'm so jealous! :rock

Thanks for the huge compliment, but remember that Sideshow was barely making anything back them compared to today. They hardly even had the Newline licenses. The bar is so much higher today. I think if they had made this today, or even re-released it, it might even be better than this. Thankfully, I don't need to wish for that.:lol

Here's a slightly better video with better sound too presented to you in fabulous LD (low definition) from my little, completely outmoded digital camera.
