I'm interested as long as it doesn't turn Pee Yellow

If it does you could always reverse the yellowing. Oxy Clean, Hydrogen Peroxide 6% and UV light should do the trick. Works wonders on de-yellowing Stormtroopers!

Um, no.

He typed 'gental.'

He meant 'gentle.'

It doesn't require an MBA in English. If you interpreted it as 'genital,' you should probably talk to someone.

That said, I'd be ALL OVER a Storm Shadow release!

I'm a she but it's cool but your right i did not write genital i meant gentle but picked the wrong spelling.

i also apologize to Alex sorry for referring you as him since Alex typically is a boys name but i do know some Alexandria's who call themselves Lexi or Alex

No harm, no foul. It's hard to ever know gender of folks on a message board. After years of butchering of my full name (Alexandra) it was just easier for me to go by Alex, ha!

I would still like to pick up Destro at some.point, personally think they did a pretty good job.
Would have liked to have seen a Scarlet but so unimpressed with Baroness that I probably wouldnt have picked her up anyways... just cant pose her well... + those skinny arms & tiny littlehands are terrible.

This is kinda telling....told ya price was going to be an issue.....Only 2 people voted "interpretaton" which means it's definitely not the majority of opinion

What killed Sideshow GI Joe? hisstank POLL

Price 50 58.82%

Modern Interpretation 2 2.35%
Low Sales/Lack of Interest 18 21.18%
Other Lines (like DC) 2 2.35%
G.I. Joe is Dead as a Property 8 9.41%
Scale (nobody collects dolls!) 5 5.88%

Yeah, but. . .that's Hisstank. Of course, price is going to be the major issue. Those kids have a hard time shelling out $10 for the Hasbro toys with their allowance money. Now if your argument is simply that high end Joes can't be sustained, then that's a different issue.

This. Hisstank is a bunch of cheapskates. Very few high end figure collectors there. Most of them misread the poll and are responding as if the title was "Why didn't you buy Sideshow GI Joes?".

I wouldn't have minded paying but half the time, the price never matched the quality. :lol

Perhaps someone should start a poll here and we can compare the results.

If so, they should clarify price to say "price relative to quality of the product." Personally, I wouldn't hesitate to spend $200-250 on a nice Joe figure, if it felt like it warranted that kind of money. SSC doesn't.

I agree with the pricing/value being their problem. Didn't they sell out really quickly when they were closer to the $100 mark? I don't think the modern interpretation had anything at all to do with it. This seems to be the only place where a vocal minority complains about it

Bummer it's dead, but with Destro being so weak and the not very exciting 2nd versions of Storm Shadow and Snake-Eyes I guess it's not too surprising.

they cant make another joe that will definetly sell!! but they can keep on rehashing the hell out of those stupid star wars clones that are overfilling sideshows warehouse. fact is sideshow cant take on more than 2 projects at a time!! gi joe had to pay the cost. dc superheroes are simple body suit change and a new sculpt, you got a new figure.

I think the increase in price was a major factor, along with poor brand mismanagement. The "Year of the Snake" releases should not cost $40-$50 more than the ones from 2 to 3 years ago, especially as they have less packaging, fewer accessories, and are generally less polished than older figures like Stalker, Beachhead, Firefly, Rock n' Roll, Viper, and Hawk. Releasing four of the five figures over a six month span didn't help either.

Why release a well received Snake Eyes statue, and then go in a totally different direction with the 1:6 figure that was both the most expensive in the line and which was competing with the Hot Toys version? Once they got their various polystone stuff going, it seemed like the unspoken message was that fans wanting the more ARAH accurate designs had to start buying dioramas, maquettes, and PFs.

The Trooper variants would have done better if they were all Blueshirts and all had their own head sculpt (or if they had done like the Ninjas and made a neutral-looking generic sculpt for all of them along with individualized "expression" portraits either included or as an Exclusive). The "Desert Officer" could have been a ARAH-accurate Blueshirt officer, and the Black Dragon Ninja could have been a Red Ninja Clan Leader (or something like that). Hard to troop build in this scale when every release has identical portraits but different uniforms.

I don't buy the linkage with Hasbro's declining interest in the Joe brand, either. The launch of the Sideshow line was almost perfectly timed with the discontinuation of the 25th Anniversary line in favor of the Rise of Cobra stuff. For me, at least, it was an easy choice to leave ROC crap on the pegs and buy Sideshow instead. If anything, Sideshow's efforts gave Hasbro some inspiration for their Pursuit of Cobra and 30th Anniv. lines. Hasbro's decision to more or less ignore the 50th Anniv. is another great opportunity for Sideshow to attract more Joe collectors. That said, it looks like they lost interest in military-themed figures. The last "army man" they did was SDCC Lt. Falcon, which was largely a kitbash.

It was probably a decision long in the making, with "Year of the Snake" as a tool to wrap up all the stalled Joe projects that were "in progress."
