So you're going to throw away documentation and pantone color codes that say it's brown.

Better than throwing away the actual movie and screen used miniatures. :lol

Like I said, the matter won't be resolved by "debate." Each side has enough evidence to sit smugly with whichever opinion they refuse to budge on. ;) One thing that IS not up for debate is the color of his coat as he appeared on the tauntaun. We know for a fact that it was blue. So "blue" will always be correct on that alone. The actual jacket that Harrison wore? Not convinced it was brown back in the day. They cut back and forth between him and the miniature and I never go "whoa, the colors keep changing."

Kudos to SSC for providing both options regardless.

Thats why I say both are correct because the jacket was Brown in real life, but it looked blue because of the lighting they wanted to use to make the scene appear very cold.

If they used a blue jacket with the blue filter, the jacket would have gone more black. Especially shot on film back then, you have to do different things with lighting to get the effect you want.

SO yes kudos to SSC for paying homage to the Prop as well as the film :)

I've always been on the blue side of the fence, but to me It looks more of a charcoal-blue colour... Kind of like his Bespin jacket (which over time could fade to brown... I guess).

I'm not convinced that the exhibit photo is a true representation of the original colour, but that's just my personal opinion.

Going by the screen used stop motion miniature it looks blue and that's good enough for me.

Whether it's blue or brown I hope everyone gets the colour they're after.

Lighting is everything. Several years ago I purchased a green couch. Well it was green in the store, once it was delivered it was a tannish color. I took a pillow back to the store and it was green under their lights and tan under mine. :(

Normally, I really dig the earth tones on certain SW characters - it matches the OT's used universe look.

In Hoth Han's case - the blue jacket just looks better. :huh

I know certain members here are internally combusting right about now. :lol :moon

Now that's an absolutely clear cut way to say what you mean and how you feel. I can stand behind and respect a comment like that.

Blue is actually my favorite color, but I prefer Han in a brown jacket, especially so since I'll be doing some special lighting for the display, so I'll pose him in brown.

For halloween I may change him into the blue. ;)

Thank you for posting this. Very interesting.

By the way, better Ford likeness, crumbling wax figure from 1980 or Sideshow's Han Bespin?

I'm guessing there won't be an exclusive. There'll be two figures. One will have a blue jacket and one will have brown.

This makes perfect sense as soon as you hear it. Han is popular enough and the divide stark enough.

  • No need to waste money making a second jacket for each one.
  • Retailers and customers have maximum flexibility.
  • No need for the purchaser to change clothes (risk of some male fans having a "holy f___ I'm playing with a doll" moment).

Anyway I have enjoyed this pointless argument, I look forward to the next installment when we grown adults, parents, educators, etc. fight about whether the AT-AT driver should be white or light grey. In fact the first minor skirmish on that front took place yesterday with jkno. :wink1:

Uhmmm... did anyone notice the pictures are up? :lol

I'm a bit confused by the description though... it looks like the exclusive is an extra blue jacket and non-helmet portrait. But then at times it almost sounds like you could choose to buy either a blue or brown one when selecting the exclusive?

The regular Captain Han Solo – Hoth Sixth Scale Figure with brown parka, and the Sideshow Exclusive version with brown or blue parka will each be priced at $199.99. Pre-orders start this Thursday, January 9th – keep an eye on this week’s Sideshow Newsletter for the official announcement!

I read it as:

Regular: brown only.
Exclusive: brown and blue. the "or" implies you can pose with either one - bad choice of words for that call-out, which is not unusual for Sideshow.

Apparently it's something completely different according to Alex. IMO, really bad exclusive combos. I'd like both heads and both coats, not one or the other.

Yeah, it's worded a weird way. It was says this:

In addition to the parka of your choice, two scarves, a cap, and goggles frame Han’s lifelike portrait, handcrafted and painted to perfectly capture actor Harrison Ford in the role that made him a star. Or, with the Sideshow Exclusive version you’ll be able to swap in the included alternative portrait without headgear to display Han as he appears inside the base (below and right).

It almost makes it sound like the the sculpt with out the gear is the exclusive, and that you'll have twpo coats anyway, or that the exclusive is the head and blue coat. WTF Sideshow. :lol

Umm, why is the jacket (coat) in blue not an exclusive when "Jacket (NOT an Exclusive) is blue in color" is only available with "Exclusive version #2"

It's exclusively available only from the web site. Only available in one product with the title "exclusive" in it. That doesn't make it an exclusive? Are you also selling the jacket as an accessory?

So you have to choose between that jackets.

Does version 1 comes with the head gear sculpt?

The blue coat has not been designated as an exclusive simple as that. Think of Exclusive #2 like the Mythos Statues. Those are considered Exclusive only in that they are available through Sideshow exclusively...that is what is happening with Han Exclusive #2 in this case.
