Sideshow, I really hope you are going with the mask/adapter idea!

I do think that Vader should be removable helmet instead of adaptor because it's a three-piece, and part of the draw of a removable helmet vader is being able to do it in stages (helm then mask.) Medicom and Hasbro both managed to do this reasonably well. i think it'd be embarrassing if SSC couldn't do it.

As for which Vader, I want the ROTJ DVD version. Sebastian Shaw with blue eyes but without his eyebrows.

As to Boba, my guess is he won't come with an alternate head, since you never saw his face. Ditto Stormtroopers. I do think it'd be cool to easily transfer headsa for them though.

The Sideshow line has to turn out great - it's will either be a huge boost for the company, or be a major bomb. They can't afford any screw ups with the psycho Star Wars crowd.

We psycho Star Wars crowd have been drinking Habro swill for the past 20 years. Even if it's only a decent figure instead of the magnificence we've been offered so far, it'll sell.

if you read rebelscum's forums, a good portion of these "fans" are gonna hate this line no matter what.

i just read a post over there from a guy who says he just saw spike, the female ape and the highlander figure at a store and he thinks they suck. sideshow does not have a chance if people are going in with this attitude.

Yes, there are a lot of the entrenched SW crowd that will hate these no matter what. I'm not sure I understand myself, but they seem determined to be disappointed in these before they ever actually see a production figure.

THIS is why I stopped being a Star Wars fanatic. It had nothing to do with the movies, which I still love and enjoy. I had some very bad experience with other "fans" who claim to love the movies but bash everything about them endlessly.
Basically most SW fanatics (or, God Help Us, "Warsies") love ESB and ANH, but ROTJ and all the prequels suck, George Lucas is a money-sucking Devil, Rick McCallum his number #1 stooge, and Ben Burtt is a talentless hack whose only contribution to cinema is the Wilhelm Scream.
Complain, complain, complain. It was during a heated argument over whether or not a lightsaber can remain lit once it's wielder has let it go that I realized, "this is stupid. They're only movies. Enjoy it and get over it." I love Star Wars, I'm deeply excited about the figures, and if one or two of them suck, well, it's still better than my Hasbro Talking Vader, my favorite toy hasbro ever made.

If you're reading this, and you are a Star Wars fanatic, and you are upset by anything I said, keep in mind that I looove what Lucas did to the DVDs, so my opinion doesn't count for much in the SW fanatic community. :vader

Okay, I'm done.:D

the really seem to prefer the hasbro limited articulation, bendy legs, lousy recycled acc.,etc,etc.

what i find most amusing is the people complaining about sideshow's prices probably have huge armies of clone and stormtrooper 4 inch figures that they spend hundreds of dollars on.:D

I've been lurking for a while over there and some of those folks are just plain nuts. Anyone who can say that those particular figures sucked is either blind or insane.

That would be cool, but I hope they can somehow design it in a way that will be a bit more secure. The Medicom helmet is so loose that when I even just pick it up, the helmet slides right off. I have to be VERY careful to make sure I'm not standing over my desk or hardwood floor! :horror

If they could get the helmet to fit more securely ontop of his mask and have the lower portion of the mask fit nice and snug around his neck, I would love it.

Rebelscum is a good site for SW info, but their forum is why I came over here. The nitpicking goes way overboard. And yes, I have read about the 1/4 Vader helmet here!

I would like sculpted helmet heads. Why would I need to have a Stormtroopers mask off??

Still won't be setting up any figs like that. Would prefer perfect sculpt over reduced quality because a few want to see a faceless troopers ummmm face.

How would it reduce the quality of the sculpt with the method I described in the thread?

FWIW for swapping heads, you need to heat the plastic first, either with hot water or a hair dryer. If you do it at normal temperature it'll most likely break.

Other figure heads like BBi and Dragon would work on Sideshow bodies, though frankly Sideshow's heads tend to be oversized for their bodies so it'd never be a perfect match.

These are the main reasons I prefer Sideshow's adapter idea:

1) Helmets will stay proportional

2) Helmets won't damage the head underneath. Think about it. If the helmet is made snug enough so it doesn't fall off all the time, it will rub against the figure's head everytime you take the helmet on and off. The paint might rub off and the head could get scratched.

3) If they make the helmet large enough so there is no rubbing problem, the helmet will fit too loose. So everytime you pick the figure up in your hands, the helmet will fall right off. Anyone who owns the Medicom Vader knows how frustrating this is. Anytime I want to pose him, I have to be EXTREMELY careful. Just causing his head to jiggle just the slightest bit will send his helmet tumbling.

4) I want to be able to move the head or mask around without worrying. I can't even pose my Vader looking up or down because sooner or later (5 mins, 30 mins) after putting him on the shelf, his helmet will come flying off, bouncing on shelves and a desk on it's way down! So as you can imagine, I definitely want my masks fitting on securely!

5) This is the most important feature for me: I want to be able to choose any head I want for the figures. What if I don't want all my stormtroopers to be clones? What if I grew up in the 1980's, 90's and have always imagined each stormtrooper to be a unique individual? I want to be able to have different heads for each Stormtrooper, like the setup that was posted above. I also want to do the same for Tie Fighter pilots, Snowtroopers, AT-AT drivers, Scout Troopers, and the list goes on...

I'm sure that many of you wish for the same. What do you guys think?

Well besides a couple clones in the PT movies, when did you ever see any Empire Troopers head? Anyone get a look a adult Boba's head? Yup, I didn't see them either. Sculpted helmet heads for me it is.
