It's totally not worth that much if you ask me. Unfortunately, it's basically your only choice if you want a shiny new looking C-3PO, short of building one yourself.

You can get the clean version from some custom guys who do 3po builds. Well over 3k. I think the sideshow version is a better choice.

Indeed. Wish I would've picked one up back when I had the chance. Now they're impossible to find and even if you're lucky enough to locate one it's gonna cost you somewhere in the $15k neighborhood to buy it. Rumor is they produced less than 100 of them.

Ouch! but that is a very low number

My C-3PO arrived today! I had one hiccup during the assembly when I couldn't find the hex nut that you need to attach the leg to the torso, so I finally had to go out to a hardware store to get a replacement ($0.95). There are a number of people expecting one or both droids over on the Rebelscum forums, so I've posted a number of pics and impressions there. I'll give you the highlights.

He comes in 4 boxes on a huge pallet. It's apparently around 300 pounds. (Yeah, I need to wash the car -- we've had quite a bit of snow recently.)

Although the pieces themselves are not individually numbered, the shipping boxes are, so you can say that my edition number is 5.

Each of the boxes has an inner box that looks like this:

Here is his torso all wrapped up. It's kind of a challenge to unwrap everything. The torso is very heavy.

The legs come in the same box.

Here is the torso unwrapped.

I got stuck at this stage for a while because I didn't have that hex nut.

Here is his head in the box.

And here he is finally assembled and on the base. I've taken most of these pictures without a flash since I think it gives you a more accurate overall impression, but the actual color is closer to what you see in the picture of the unwrapped torso above.

You can move his arms, head, and hands. I think I'll probably keep him with his hands down most of the time though. The lights and sounds also work fine. I'll try and make a video in a little while. Overall, I'm very satisfied.

This is how I have him displayed at the moment. I like being able to change it up.

I made a quick Youtube video showing his voice.

I'm not sure when R2 is going to be coming. As I mentioned above, he's been delayed because of problems they're having with breakage, but they're supposed to call me when they're ready to send him. They said it could be as much as 2 to 3 weeks.

I had a little fun here with a 12" Hasbro C-3PO:

He sure is a chatty fella... how does the voice function work? Do you have to press a button, or motion activated?

There is a button in the back of his head that you press once to turn on the lights, again to turn on the sounds, and again to turn everything off. The sound thing is cool, since his eyes flicker in time with what he says, but he only has about 10 or 15 things that he says, and you can get through them all in about 2 minutes. I think they always play in the same order as well. It's more of a feature that you might use to show him off to someone else, but not something you'd use on your own after very long.
