A lot of us feel your pain Josh. While it's nice to have the SW figures, I am greedy and want both. But I'd be really surprised if we got another announcement before May. Everything will be about the SDCC exclusives this month :sick .

I know. I won't complain too much about it. Just want to get it out. They will come like Dave said just gotta be patient.

To me, it comes as a breather... the amount of money involved is astronomical now....be it slow and good...

So true...financially its on good pace.......its the eyes that want more and more and more and more....lol:rotfl But I still hope they surprise us all at SDCC!!!!

that and also i rather they take a longer time to make the best they can than rushing out a poorer quality one just to satisfy demand.

I am in no rush for LOTR, getting Lego/Gimli/Arod and Aragorn BG within a month is a big cost. I am also one that likes when Sideshow takes their time and produces something high quality and detailed than a rush job. Patience!

I don't even get a new zombie to play with either...

NO OFFENSE TO ANYBODY, but is Twisted Rabbits and IDW Publishing Sideshow's main customer base. Honestly, the main customer base is SW, LoTR, Marvel, Horror, etc...GIVE US SOME MAIN LOTRs. But I digress, sorry, sorry, I didn't get much sleep and I'm ranting and rambling on. I just don't see why we don't get a LoTR

I would have loved a LOTR item but none will be ready in time sadly. Like I said in another thread it's not bad at all that SS gives the other lines and the other lines collectors a day in the sun. I'm getting a couple pieces I want from SS plus other SDCC exclusives from GG, Hasbro, etc. I'll get my fill just as everyone else will.

I was a little bummed at first, but remember--if there's anybody who is guaranteed to get tons of new releases in the future, its the Star Wars and LOTR fans. Those major releases need to be offered to a very wide audience, which is not what SDCC is all about. Sideshow can afford to get more obscure with their exclusives at a comic book convention, and then sell thousands of SW/LOTR figures to a worldwide audience via their website. There would be a LOT more upset LOTR fans this week if there was some awesome figure coming out that thousands of people had no chance of purchasing. Now it's just a matter of patience rather than frustration because you're not going to SDCC or missed the non-attendee sale. :peace

I think a lot of people are just frustrated with the fact that the SW 12" series is at an incredible pace and LOTR has kinda come to a grinding halt. But just remember all those lovely polystone figures you already have and take a chill pill.

If the timing had been right for a LotR exclusive at SDCC, I'm sure there would be one. But no variant of any of the PFs or 12" would be ready for July, so they wisely chose to support other lines with the exclusives.

I'm surprised that the edition size for the 12" Aragorn was only 4,000. I could have sworn it was larger (did it get reduced?), it really just seems that 1/6 collectors aren't as crazy about the LOTR figures, but I have a feeling there will be a lot of sad collectors once these start shipping :monkey2

Nope the ES was always 4k. I don't think it's that collectors aren't crazy for LOTR but more so the momentum has slowed because no products have come out. Also it seems some fans don't want to transition from collecting statues to these 1/6 or 1/4th. Things will pick up once they start shipping and once they get some more characters announced. LOTR is a line that will sell and sell well things just have to get going at a better pace.

I agree. I think once there's a few more choices in 12" LOTR, people will find the one they really like, buy it, then start to get the bug to pick up the others.

In a way, SS does themselves a disservice because they could hook more people if they released more LOTR figures quickly at first (like with SW) and they'd sell more directly through their website as opposed to people coming in down the line when you can only find Aragorn and Legolas in the secondary market. Not that they're doing badly by any means...I just think LOTR 12" never got the push or the momentum due to a slow release pattern.

What's funny is that the LOTR 1/6 figures look nicer than the Star Wars. Not that I think they are doing anything different, but they are so much more complex in terms of costume and accessories. I'm optimistic for the line, but I agree it would be nice to have more of a heads-up on where it's going.

I also can't wait to hear more about the line -- hoping that the entire fellowship will eventually be made. I started collecting late into the polystone line so I didn't purchase the entire fellowship. I'm hoping I get the chance to emphasize my collection with a posable fellowship.

Since I don't have any past experience collecting 12" figures, I'm consistently reading (lurking is more the word) board members opinions of Sideshow 12" figures (both SW & LOTR).

I can't wait for Comic-Con to see them displayed and make up my own mind.

Thanks to all for sharing your opinions, expertize and knowledge.

I didn't manage to get the entire fellowship in either statue or bust form in the polystone line, and I would like a full set of the nine heroes. I imagine that they will be available first in the 12" line and not the Premium Format, which will probably take years. Well, it'll be years in either line, but much longer in the 1/4 scale line. The LOTR 12" figures seem to be the fanciest and most accesorized that Sideshow have yet to create and they just take more time than their Star Wars counterparts. Once the shorter body is ready, we will likely see hobbits coming out as fast as the Jedi preorders were hitting this year.
