this was an easy target for flippers. i dont recall SS ever releasing the Ex ES before even putting it up for PO, so i dont understand their thinking.

Seemed stupid to me aswell. It just made sales sky rocket. Maybe SS was worried about sales so they decided to add the ES size as an, uhm, incentive or compeling factor to PO quickly.

True, but at least this time it has higher stakes with them putting out some of the cash as a deposit, versus the normal risk free policy. And the piece itself is also of a higher cash value so they can't flip multiples as easily. Also with the Ex selling out so fast and the website lagging it was probably harder for them to order multiples.

Probably can't eliminate them totally but at least those factors minimise the flippage.

I found it strange they went this route on this piece as well tho'. The negativity on the boards may have turned them off or maybe each employee bought a couple of Ex's themselves : P j/k

Thanks for this info :) Very useful. Well, on the other hand it's win win solution for them too. They know the chance of wait list get converted is very unlikely and the chance of selling regular piece is also low, since most people prefer exclusive edition. That way they can sell regular edition as well. If all people in the wait list think like u(n me lol) they can end up selling all regular with some wait list converted. It's more like win solution for them lol.

But I will do it as well. I like your idea.

i wouldn't say their chance of selling the reg edition is low, i think it will probably sell out as well. i probably won't jump on the reg edition train tho until i see that their stock is getting low. until then it's hoping my waitlist gets converted...:pray:

I'm sure it was more of a financial decision to put the exclusive edition so low since it was such an expensive piece. Figure that it costs SS x dollars to produce a piece. And they forecast a certain percentage of the regular edition to sell. So they set the edition size at a certain price point. Along side the hefty deposit, they essentially garuanteed themselves a cool $100k+ in a matter of minutes. I'm wondering if one of the brainy SS number crunchers has a fancy equation they use to figure all that out.

I realise it doesn't worry sideshow since they sold out in 20 minutes but I don't think they give us enough notice for items like this. I realise everyone is used to it but when Sideshow require us to drop a couple of hundred dollars on the day I would like a little more than a couple of days notice. I realise some can afford it but I'm sure a majority can't. I am pretty new to sideshow so I don't know all the ins and outs. I just think it would better service their customers to provide more information earlier about special releases like this one :peace (preparing for backlash :chase)

With all due respect, if a person doesn't have the $200 required for downpayment on hand, they probably shouldn't be investing in $1,200 statues.

With all due respect, I expected that kind of answer :lol I don't invest in statues that expensive but in this case an Optimus statue is something I would love to own and would have made the neccessary sacrifices to get. All I am saying is I would have preferred better notice as to what they were going to do. Anyway :chillpill: that's all I'm gonna say on the matter. It's all good :wave

The thing about this deposit issue is that some of us have purchased an ordeal of statues, figures, etc., and don't have the funds available on that specific date and time for any given reason. I think you should be able to reserve your item and have at least 48 hours to make the deposit.

When this item became available, I had to switch account information and was at work during that time. If I would've been able to reserve without a deposit, I would've had enough time to get home after work and enter the alternate payment information. Since I didn't, I ended up on the waitlist, but I'm probably the first or second on that waitlist. ;)

You all do know SS doesn't automatically charge your card when you order. it would've taken until at least Saturday if not Monday to charge. although I might be wrong. maybe someone here who ordered it can let us know if the charge already went through and when...:dunno
