Please, by all means, provide something better. I only have a phone camera and am trying to capture detail for those who asked, aka, trying to do something nice for folks.

I'm not trying to denigrate your efforts, just offering a bit of guidance to any photographers who are reading the thread tonight.. Your camera's lens isn't able to focus on the details that you are trying to capture. It needs to able to differentiate between the subject, in the foreground, and the background. When you lay the figure on your countertop and place your camera inches above the figure, there's not enough space for the camera to work. Your first photos do a good job of representing the figure, but the last one not so much. You might accomplish the same trick by placing your phone further away and zooming in, rather than physically moving your camera closer.

I took the comment as constructive. Dr. Nash, we appreciate the pics for sure. Thanks for being first!

Don't wanna spend $260 bucks for this, but wouldn't mind a younger Alec Guinness Kenobi in my collection. Even though the prototype was stronger, I appreciate the effort with this one.

The head seems better in certain lighting conditions than others. It looks good in top light that shows the sculpt better, less so in the fuller light (edit - not sure why the pic came in so massive...). Fortunately Detolf lighting is harsher top lighting for the most part.

hmmm... Sculpt is good but the paint apps kinda look like those 3-D printed "your face as an action figure" things you can buy off of Etsy

Camera flash washed out the detail.

So the lesson here is that you have to take the pics with the flash off in a dark room. And if you squint, it might "almost" look like Obi-Wan when he was younger, lol.

Dumb comment alert

Sorry. I hadn't seen your pics. I was only quoting the posts above because they were the last ones on the page i was viewing, and i hadn't realised the thread was on to the next page already. They are the only ones that look great so far, probably because you took time to pose, and have great lighting.
I hope my comment didn't offend.
But if you go back, every person taking pics up till yours looks like they were taken in a dimply lit room with a 1MP camera. The focus is off or the lighting is wrong.
Your pics, and yours alone make this figure look decent. Every other pic makes it look like a 2008 $120 Sideshow GI Joe type figure.
I expect other people will take time to get some nice pics taken.

Sideshow paint apps gave this very chalky look to them. If I had to pick a word to describe them. Ash is probably the best they've done still though.

The face paint looks thick and cartoony still. I like the backpack and accessories but not enough to spend so much on this.

Hey it’s all good. Those pics are from a Facebook user anyways. I don’t get mine til Thursday of next week for some reason :( BTW she said the body is good and the joints aren’t loose.

Looks pretty decent here, good job by the photographer. Photos do a nice jobs hiding the ugly neck joint but those wrist joints are awful too. The sculpt is of course years behind HT and the wear on the robe unnaturally looks like someone cut jagged lines on the bottom with a scissors.

Most of this stuff could probably be cleaned up with some custom work I suppose.

It's gotta be wild for SSC to see one of the characters they created being adapted into other media at this point.

Heck, even one of my co-workers put together a Mythos Obi-Wan costume for Halloween this year.

I'd probably term this an "alternate outfit design" not a "character creation." I'm not sure Sideshow can lay claim to the idea that Ben had adventures between the PT and the OT.

It's a mash-up of PT and OT Ben outfits with some pretty obvious gear choices added (the mini moisture vaporator is a little on the nose.) It's certainly a cool look for Ben and on the whole nicely pulled off by Sideshow though.

So when I bought the 1:5th SS Mythos Obi Wan it was $379.00... this 1:6th release is $265.00

:rotfl

The head is a bobble-head with soft sculpting not up to current collecting standards that Sideshow is typical for. An easy pass. For those who are happy with their purchase good on you.
