Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Up NOW, Link to buy in 1st post.

Most definitely. With the most ridiculous price tag! I remember they had the regular edition of Venom with the asking price of 365.99(?) CDN. Mind you, that's before the 13% tax...:cuckoo:

That's crazy! :horror

I actually spent close to 360 for the Venom EX ordering directly through Sideshow. There's this place called Comic Warehouse in Brampton and they blow up the prices pretty bad too.

Canadian stores don't get free shipping or free duty on imports. And, they are compelled to pay and ask for taxes too otherwise they risk getting charged criminally with tax evasion or fraud. One can't compare the price of a Sideshow item in New York to that in Toronto. There are numerous other expenses to consider as well which a seller in New York would not have to deal with. I completely understand and respect a Canadian store's need to make a profit.

I realize it sometimes sucks having to pay extra for these already expensive pieces. It's the cost of living in Canada. You either adapt or find a way around it, like shipping to your friend in Florida (or whatever) and then wait 5 months until they drive in for a visit. However, it's unrealistic to expect Canadian store owners to assume all the extra costs, just because. If that were the case, chances are we would never see a Sideshow product in Canadian stores.

with the Witch King pf comin out next week; if it holds all kinds of bad ass, I might have to end up cancelling this one when it comes time to ship. Hopefully, this does have a huge ES as everyone suspects so I can pull the EX down the road for a reasonable price.

WTH :gah: how did i miss this.
off to LOTR section :hi5:

If SS would just ship with USPS and not dumb Fed Ex and UPS all my problems would go away

Considering USPS takes about a year to reimburse for damages, if at all, I can completely understand why Sideshow (or anyone) would want to go with FedEx or UPS. Also, it can take longer for an item to ship to Canada via USPS, and USPS often costs more than FedEx. Also, UPS and FedEx do pick ups for shipments of a hundred plus items.

Ultimately, what some Canadian consumers want is for sellers to lie on declaration forms so that they don't have to pay the proper fees. Understandable. Those fees at up. However, the problem with that is if the item ships damaged, the seller is screwed because it wasn't insured/declared at the right value. Also, what if the seller is caught lying or commiting a fraud on these forms?

In essence, taking this route is akin to asking sellers to screw themselves just so some Canadians can save a few bucks. I'd bet that if the shoe were on the other foot, most of these same buyers wouldn't be so quick to do the same.

I know this is getting off topic but would it make any difference if they were dealing directly with Sideshow instead of getting stuff through distributors? I know the one store here mentioned that they dealt directly with them before but they were only given the opportunity to sell the older or leftover pieces that SS had. Then, what would happen is that they would sit on the shelf for a while because most people either had the pieces already or didn't want them, which forced them to sell at a lower price than they had paid for them.

I went a head and preordered this piece but I'm thinking of canceling my Carnage. I don't have Venom, so really there is no point in having carnage but this spidey piece as a stand alone statue isn't too shabby.

Agreed! :lecture

This will be a great stand alone piece. I own the Venom piece, and still have Carnage on PO, but honestly, I don't think any of them will be displayed together because they really don't go together as well as I thought they would. If no one told me that these three were part of a set, I would never have guessed.

Yeah, agree with you guys, love the piece but it didn't go together with Venom and Carnage as well as I thought it would. I'll probably still display them together tho'.

While my Buffy will still take center stage, I have every intention of displaying the 3 Spidey pieces in the same vicinity. It's not like I have many pieces in that scale.

All I care about is the bolded part. :lol j/k

I will probably do that as well, just not as close as what SSC has pictured. For me, BiB Spidey goes together just as well with Venom as I think this new Spider-Man comiquette will. Together or not won't really bother me. That's not saying that the individual beauty of each piece isn't there though because it definitely is.

AWESOME...I cant wait to get the other two...Especially Spiderman.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Link for waitlist in 1st post.

Thats a great pic, the pf looks just as good with those 2 imo, but this comi is still cheaper than the sparkling blue pajama pants, so this one is the better bet :wink1:

Yes you do! The SS Punisher comiquette is the only way to go. Best Punisher piece out there. Go ahead and get some!

Seeing this pic, there's no way the price tag is justified on the Spidey comiquette. The other two pieces are way more complicated and detailed.

I will get the Spidey, but only because I'm a completist, and I will try to find from another cheaper source. I hope the ES on this piece is HUGE so I can find it for a "bargain" (read: less than $300) down the road.

Re: Spider-Man Comiquette - Link for waitlist in 1st post.

As far as a more detailed spiderman statue, what did you guys have in mind? I've seen that being said on more than one occasion but, no one really stated what exactly they are referring to (unless I missed it). If were talking about muscles here, I'm actually glad they didn't overdue the muscles on his body and add veins all over the place.

The only real critique I have of this statue is the coloring. To me, its just a tad too light. If they matched it up with the coloring in the sketch, it would have been perfect. When I get mine, I'm going to try and find someone who can paint it to something similar like this:
