This is not the only thread people are complaining about it though, but I agree, no point going on about it. I am only here because this thread has become informative like with Gipetto0812 showing us and telling us what Supes is made of. And also still like looking at the pics of this figure as I am on the fence about it. I would have no problems buying a 1/4 scale Hot Toys figure that looked the same at this price.

Its a big reason why I'm able to enjoy this figure.
That's how I feel, it feels like a 1/4 hot toys figure.
Steve, you know how I love my 1/4 EB batman, supes is displayed a few feet from it and it doesn't look inferior to it at all.
In fact they complement each other, and they both look equal in quality.

And I just have to reiterate what's been said, with the flaws that has been said, the positives outweigh the negative.
For people who think it may look cheap cause its PVC, it isn't. The figure still looks like a high quality figure.

None of that was directed at you, BTW, DA...

Oh thanks for confirming that, I was worried that some of it might have been, as I use to vent a lot when this first came out.

:1-1:

Yea I think the silver body with black shading was their way of recreating the movie look b/c Cavil wore a metallic silver muscle suit under the blue mesh which game that awesome shine in the movie

Oh that does make sense, I must admit I was curious as to why it was silver.

As for the Keaton PF yes and no. It has the very nice fabric cape and I see it as unrealistic to think that SS would coat the body in rubber.

Yeah it would probably be too hard, if it didn't have the cape it would just be a maquette, as everything else, other than the belt is fully sculpted I believe.

But what would be cool is if they coated the body with that rubber texture paint that some of the Batman Begins Mattel figures had. I always liked that. It felt like rubber but wasn't.

Hmm interesting, so it was just paint but actually felt like a suit was on there?

And for breaking my MOS PF. It didn't really shatter. The holes I drilled allowed for break points so when hitting it with the hammer, the plastic cracked. I just kept wailing on it until it cracked enough for me to take pliers and "tear" it I guess is the best way to describe it. Either way, I found out that this PF is very well made regardless of it being PVC instead of Polystone :)

I figured that would be the only real way to destroy it like how Hot Toys collectors chopped up their sculpts by sawing them into pieces.

I would say apart from the paint job on the head sculpt it looks like a 1/4 scale Hot Toys figure, because the suit is still amazing!

Yeah Fernando I could see that would look the same from a distance, but EB's Barman head sculpt is painted more realistically. Nevertheless, I think only up close would the difference between the two be apparent.

Well it certainly looks it in a a lot of pictures but I am still on the fence about whether to get it or not. If the paint job and head sculpt was as good as Hot Toys one I probably would of caved by now.

This is getting ridiculous, guys... We'd rather Supes have been polystone, because we like polystone better. He isn't polystone. If that's a deal breaker for you, that's more than fair, and I don't think anyone would fail to respect that opinion or anyone who decides that they can't live with that. But can we stop trying to come up with reasons why PVC was such a terrible idea? This is getting tiring.

Possibly one of the best posts on this thread. Without question, I would have preferred a polystone sculpt, but this guy looks great, and I am very happy with the purchase.

Thanks for the support, guys! Never was my intention to take on the role of arch defender of the piece. Truth is I share a lot of the concern . But at the end of the day, we'll each have to judge the total package on its merits without being pushed into anyone else's predetermined opinion.

Now... For those of you who have been concerned that "fancy" photography may be propping up this piece (although there really hasn't been anything like that in my shots, promise) here are a few I took with ambient room lighting only - no spotlighting of the piece or any other targeted lighting at al . This should give those on the fence an idea of what he looks like out of the box. As I think you'll see, looks good OOTB, looks fantastic when lit well.

Had a lot of fun posing the cape!

Notes:

If the neck looks long to you, I assure you its the camera angle and the forced perspective going from 3D to 2D.

The camera also increases the apparent reflective properties of the paint . In person he's not noticably shiny.

As always, my apologies for the fuzzy cell phone pics.

Really good pictures as it shows how fantastic the suit looks in natural lighting but I am still on the fence. I mean the figure looks great but I am still in mourning of the polystone proto. Still might pick him though just feel I need some time to think about it.

Is anyone here thinking about getting this repainted by one of the known professional painters on here? like Silent Surfer I think it would look amazing with a realistic paint job.

I'd have to see how several repaints from various artists come out first. there's no doubt that just about EVERY SS PF piece that has ever come out, or will ever come out, would benefit greatly from a paint job applied with the love and individual care as that of the prototypes which are presented to us in order to collect our pre-orders. The issue for me here (as you know) is that the factory paint is actually pretty good on this one. I think we discussed several pages back that is was SS's All-Star factory that painted this one, and I think the evidence of that is clear. BUT, if I could transform this top grade factory job into a top grade artisan prepared job....heaven.

Since the head is not detachable I'm concerned. ... pull the suit down from the neck?

Gotta love it when a person takes the time to set up an account on a forum and with their very FIRST post chooses to drop in a snarky comment degrading a piece. Its almost as if a current forum member set up a brand new account in order to drop in the troll "anonymously". But that couldn't be right? I mean, who would be so spineless..?

Tip: If you're setting up a ghost account to criticize and don't want to sign your name to it, bounce around for a while in other threads and post a few simple and innocuously positive comments first to get your post count up a bit before you come in and do what you actually intended to do in the first place. that way the ploy won't be so obvious...

I apologize, Qui-Gon is apparently in a lousy mood. Welcome aboard KingThor!

Yeah I just want to see this sculpt painted to its full potential.

You would have to send the whole figure but since it is light as a feather shipping won't cost much and I am sure the pro painters will just mask the areas other than the head sculpt. :dunno

Are you being sarcastic?

I think you would have to pull the suit back at least a bit. No matter how well you mask, it would create a line if the new paint stopped exactly at the fabric edge.

That's true I guess, but I pretty sure those pro painters would be able to paint the head and neck without painting the suit.

If it's an alternate account, they'll slip up & show their true selves. They always do

My concern isn't them painting the suit, it's how well the suit bounces back after being pulled back for a while.

the collar is hard plastic so you can't pull it down. and from experience, the collar will give first when pulling before the head does which tears the suit. Like DA said, you would have to send a painter the whole thing

Man I'm having terrible luck with this dang statue! Just got my replacement in this evening and guess what? it's worse than my original one :gah: What's worse is I'm one of the ones who liked this statue and wanted it but Sideshow's lack of QC on this thing (or just mine it seems) is really turning me off of it. Can't wait to have to deal with Sideshow CS even more :slap: now I'm not even sure I want to order the Reeve PF. I might get a bad one there too :monkey2
