I, for one, am very happy it's a fabric cape. The sculpted capes for Batman and Superman (original trinity) were a pain in the *** to remove and attach. The also threw off the balance of the statues.

Bat's cape looks amazing and is a non-issue for me. I had no reason to remove it and it sits very securely. Swapping out portraits was never a problem because the heads pulled right off without having to futz with his cape. Superman on the other hand is a complete pain in the rear to change portraits and has a terrible one peg set up on his cape. That really was some lousy engineering on sideshow's part. That all said, I still think the sculpted capes look wickedly awesome on both PFs!

I agree sculpted looks awesome but I would prefer fabric. My modern age batman PF looks great and there is no need to futz it as has been said, however it takes up a lot of space and makes the box massive. I also like the ability to pose it in different ways and premium format for me means mixed media when possible and when it looks right

I had to replace all of the bumpers on the bottom of the statue and you can still tell that the cape pulls the statue heavily to one side. Not ideal.

The pads on the bottom of the base was an issue right from the start. They were tiny and spaced incorrectly to balance the statue. My Bats PF wobbled right out of the box after I assembled it. I took one quarter sized felt pad and put it under the base on the side it was leaning and it's secure and sturdy. I've had no issues since. The modern Bats PF has the same cape and no leaning issues have been reported that I know of. Obviously, sideshow corrected the pad placement issue and the weight of the cape isn't a problem. It's the pad placement that caused all the leaning problems to begin with. At least that was the case in my situation.

the capes on the original supes and bats PF suck balls, they are way to heavy and not easy to take on and off. They also make the statue very difficult to move due to the weight distribution issues the capes cause. Having said that I'd still prefer a sculpted cape just one made out of a lighter material then the last ones.

I sometimes wonder if Sideshow had originally come out with its capes made of a lighter material, like plastic for their classic Bats and Supes, if that would have created a bigger issue/controversy than it originally was?

I feel like molded fiberglass or pvc would cost far more to produce than a fabric cape as well... Somehow I don't think SS would be willing to spare the consumer that extra $ so I'm all good with fabric capes.

I believe it was in the other forum that SS said that mix media is more expensive to do then sculpting and painting....

While i may agree with you people would have flipped their **** if it was PVC and you know it.

People usually don't get as upset if it's just accessories as they do if it's the whole statue, especially the body.... The biggest thing SS does to piss people off is not telling them up front what the statue is made out of... If SS was more upfront with the materials they used I doubt there would be quite as many complaints, well besides the 100% PVC statue that sells for the same price as Polystone, people don't like that...

I bet if SS sold the 100% PVC statue like MOS for 1/2 the price people wouldn't mind so much... I know Yamato & Koto sells their PVC versions of the statues for half the price then their polystone ones..

Except I believe it was proven that 100% PVC above a certain size(1/6?) Is super expensive. And I say that not liking mos PF at all.

I know Igo was trying to convince people that PVC was superior and more expensive to Polystone awhile back on the other forum (Back when they were releasing MOS PF, which was 100% PVC and felt like a Barbie doll in your hands). But if I'm not mistaken Beast Kingdom makes 1:4 PVC statues from $180 for Else from Frozen to $260 for Woody and Buzz Lightyear. Also keep in mind that when they make statues there usually in smaller parts which they then assemble, so it's not like they have a single mold of a big statue they have to do, usually the arms and legs and torso have their own molds. So the price of the PVC should stay the same between 1:6 and 1:4, of course 1:4 being bigger it takes more PVC to make them thus the higher price tag over 1:6.

Anyways I still don't buy the explanations people have put out there to show why PVC is superior over Polystone... Sounds rather fishy to me... but since I'm not in that business I could be wrong... but when you see other companies using PVC with cheap prices kind of tells me PVC is just cheaper all around. I think companies just want their customers to think it's more expensive so they'll keep buying at Polystone Prices... but that's a hard road to get people to believe PVC is a superior product..

For the uninitiated (which I count myself as), I found this article helpful for understanding cost and benefit between material types for figures and statues.

Interesting article. PVC is fine for statues as long as it's priced right. As the article pointed out, "It’s relatively cheap plastic". The bigger companies trying to convince their customers that PVC is just as expensive as polystone as the reason the prices are the same was a con IMO. There is a reason why other companies who have been making PVC statues for a very long time always priced it 40%-50% below their polystone counterparts, but that's just my opinion.....

Most PVC statues are smaller then most of the quality polystone pieces.

Hasn't this thing already essentially been revealed? I mean I get we don't have the 25000 wrap around shots from every angle conceivable, but between the initial picture showing the exclusive and the pictures last week with Wonder Woman, we know what we're getting.

All I'm really hoping for in the pictures this week is for Batman to be included in the same way Superman was last week.

Yeah I thought so also. I'm wondering what they could show us that we already haven't seen.

Close-ups and different angles.

Nice to see the FULL exclusive, since someone mentioned they thought there would be wires/cords hanging from the Brainiac head. Still not sure I need this considering I have the original (which is still a great statue IMO).
