This will look awesome with John Connor and this Rick in my Hall of Canceled Garbage.
Why does sideshow even bother? Every one of their recent Terminator collectibles have been awful.

WHICH, is a shame in my eyes.
Likeness doesn't do much for me, honestly. HT's likeness wasn't perfect, but was better IMO.

Poseable action figures only for me anyway so I don't really care. I don't tend to be hugely impressed by Sideshows Terminator stuff generally though. HT stuff is just simply amazing, NECA's stuff is good enough if you're still interested in smaller scale sculpted figures but Sideshow's....its below what it needs to be for what it is IMO. I don't think its just me going on this thread so far.
Actually yeah the T2 Cyberdyne T-800 PF is an exception. Great headsculpt on that except the overly bouffant hair.
How stuff like this gets approved is beyond my understanding.
That may explain some of the crummy sculpts, but does that explain the shoddy paint apps? Unless you are trying to get twice as much stuff painted in the same amount of time (which could be the case for all I know), my guess would be that HT has better sweat shops.Oh yeah, and by the way, I guaran-damn-tee that if Hot Toys was to start pumping out as much stuff as Sideshow does, their quality would go down as well. It's just the nature of the beast.
!
Pretty damn close to perfect imo.

Maybe proximity to factory plays a role, but if it's just managerial oversight then why can't Sideshow get their painters or someone with taste regarding good paintwork to approve or disapprove production work from afar? They could mail them to the states, or even take hi res pics and have Sideshow approve or disapprove. Whatever the case may be, Sideshow's paint apps ain't always up to snuff, and their prototype work doesn't match up with production work as often as it should. Hot Toys rarely has this problem. I know HT's come a long way since MMS1, but the drastic shift in production work goes well beyond bringing on one of the best prototype painters around. It is about matching up prototype with production. One of the main reasons is that they're IN China, right next to their factory, so if the paint is messed up, they drive over there and show them how it's done. When Sideshow messes up the paint, it's not like SilentSurfer or small_studios can drive across the street and show the factory workers how to paint. The truth of the matter is, no US based company will EVER be able to compete with Hot Toys.
