I always liked my T2 PF when I had him. I think the face sculpt is under rated as is the piece itself. I thought the Paint apps were fine.

I honestly can't understand how anyone can like SS's factory paint jobs for their human characters. Their eyes are never alined, one is usually looking straight while the other is looking sideways. Also their paint jobs overall are just not realistic, they paint them like they are cartoon characters. Then again I guess the T1 looks quite realistic from a distance, but as for the others :yuck

However, that custom paint job is fantastic!!! It really shows off how nice the sculpt is.

Yeah a lot of people I know didn't think it looked anything like Arnold until they saw the repaint.

Totally agree man. Those pictures you posted earlier show just how bad the stock paint app is on the Arnold sculpt. Looks way too cartoony, and doesn't look like an expensive art piece. No detail in the skin whatsoever. The repaint looks WAY better and really brings out the Arnold likeness too.

The newer stuff coming out from Sideshow does seem to have more realistic paint apps though, such as their T1 PF.

It's not that realistic, the five o'clock shadow helps it looks more realistic than it is. Nevertheless, not as bad as the previous ones, that is for sure.

This is realistic.

I have been happy with several Human painted SSC pieces I have received. Yes some get googly eyes but not all.

Here are some I have been happy with. Now mind you these are all taken with m awful camera and they all look much better in person.

Of course the painters have dropped the ball before. But I have been happy more often then not.

However here is a great example of Good SSC paint apps and bad SSC paint apps.

No googly eyes here.

Dude your Paint apps must have been really bad or your friends might need glasses. While not as good as your repaint, the original paint apps on mine were fine.

While that looks great. I would not say it's "realistic" As far as I can tell Polystone can never look realistic with it's paint. Not like plastic. Just go look at the EB BD T2. Very realistic. But very soulless also.

Yeah I don't mind those either but they could of been better.Nevertheless, they are good enough and I can understand why you would be more than satisfied with them. :wink1:

Wow first recent one I have seen without them! :eek

Sorry I have to disagree, that paint job looks horrible, so plain looking. Nevertheless, I can still see some of Arnold in there.

I meant as realistic as painted polystone can get, of course it doesn't mimic the skin realism as EB BD PVC T2. However, unlike most SS PFs with plain simple painted paint jobs, this paint job is quite realistic.

the paint apps need to be stepped up with their price increases. That T2 paint app from the factory is horrid.

Of course there is always room for improvement. But man they would be expensive if they were done as well as some of the customs out there.

Really?? I have not seen any with googly eyes.. But then again I have not been in that thread in a while.

Well my photo skills are leaving a lot to be desired. Having said that, even with my bad photo skills I can't believe you can only "see some of Arnold in there"

Not saying you have to like it. Just sort of shocked by the inability to see Arnold in the sculpt because of the paint apps.

Of course I sold it long ago so perhaps I was not all that impressed either. :)

Now just dug out this photo. I can see what you mean as far as a lack of shading and detail. Of course I remember his lips and eyes looking much more detailed in person.

IMO I Still think it looks fine.

Also, some of those photos you found are the most unflattering I have seen. Which is a little unfair.

Here are some good ones.

But In will admit that SS has come a ways since they produced it.

Looks good to me :hi5:

I think DA likes dissing Sideshow Arnie scylpts :dunno

Oh, thanks for the PM. Having a few issues with the retailer I got him from.

Very nice paint, but paying for a repaint on top of the $400 - $500 I've already paid? No thank you.

Now that is true.

Yeah hence why I said the word recent. However, Rogue PF has been out for years and that was everyone's example for SS's Googly eyes.

I think you took the word some too literally, I meant I do see Arnold in there it's just that the repaint brings it out more.

Of course I sold it long ago so perhaps I was not all that impressed either. :)

:lol

Not to me it doesn't, but each to their own.

There's also some better ones with LED lighting. I was trying to get comparisons pics that were on the same angles as the repaint pics. They might not be the most flattering but they do show what the paint job looks like in real life. I know for certain that the PJ looks like this because I have seen it in person at my LSC.

JAWS it sounds like you are trying to convince your self it is good. I don't understand why this is since you sold it? I think u should just move on and hope that this new BD terminator PF will turn out great!

:exactly:

Which is why I buy dolls! :lol

I really want the Dutch PF though, but the only thing stopping me from buying that is the PJ. :gah:

Still might buy it though, I just love that head sculpt.

I thought many of the photos you used had flash lighting and thus washed out much of the detail.

I am not trying to convince myself. I really loved the piece. I sold it to make room for the T1 Terminator. But perhaps I got a better then average paint apps on mine.
