I do think that the hair would be improved greatly with some dry brushing or detailed paint ...

The sculpt is pretty strong overall , I just can't pay the price for this. And I am a huge horror fan.

But SSC just is never a 300 dollar figure.

Looks good actually!
A downgrade from the proto, but not to the extent of Beetlejuice from what we've seen so far, is that the Redman its being compared to at the end there?
I wasnt aware the Redman was partially rooted.
Both look good, I will say I think the Redman face sculpt is better on the "human-face" David, but the hair sculpt and area are better on the SS, I would also give SS the win on tailoring
Not sure which is which when it comes to the Blood Bottle but the one on the left looks better.
Either seem to be decent options, but I know the Redman is considerably cheaper.
How do the vampire faces/feet compare?

The Redman wasn't rooted. I did that myself.
I actually see more of a young Kiefer in this SS than I do the Redman now with them side by side. The Redman looks too fat in the face to me now.
Blood bottle on the left is Sideshow. Redman on the right.
I'll have to dig up the Redman Vamp face as that's in my storage. I was never a fan of that one.

Nice work on the rooting mate!
It may be surprising to know but Kiefer was actually a tad chubby in the face in that movie, IMO id say the Sideshow is too gaunt to be accurate for him in that movie

The outfit and sculpt look great but then you also just end up seeing the mold line that's running across the front of the already downgraded hair.

Shame they dropped the ball so badly in that area when the rest of the figure looks good. This really shouldn't be $300.

Yup that's my biggest let down in the figure overall. I'm thinking once my backlog of preorders and custom obligations are full filled I'll be sending this sculpt off to Jacob for a proper paint/hair work.

As for price, I think the license cost might be eating up a lot of that.

Yea , it looks like a hat on his head. Re painting would help a lot

I will try some dry brushing of light brown to dark brown, maybe even a wash color to see if I can bring some life to that hairstyle. I think some very subtle dry brushing will do the trick. Mine arrives tomorrow and will likely do my little art project over the weekend. Stay tuned! :)

Good plan.

Honestly , you may want to try to use a magnifier and do individual hairs for highlights.

Dry brush then paint individual hairs with lighter tones.

You guys are totally missing something here...
That's the Snowstorm Exclusive Version!
It's from one of the deleted scenes of the movie that shows David in a flashback during his winter holidays in the Hamptons. That's just the snow that landed on top of his mullet...

:stick

The hair really looks like a mold that was taken off of a 3D printed proto, without the fidelity being retained. The crispyness of the proto seems like something you'd print rather than mold.
