Do you like the new Comic Con format?

I like the new format. I have not pre-ordered any new item....yet, but that doesn't mean that I'm not enjoying looking at the teasers, trying to figure them out and then waiting for them to go up for pre-order the following day. I also like the contests, gift card promotions, and looking at what items are on discount...and I've got something to look forward to every day of the month. The Sideshow site is the first thing I look at in the morning when I log on to my computer.

As for the attendees, well, you are still the first to see the products in person. That still is 100 times better than looking at a photo.

i neither like nor dislike, so i chose indifferent. however, i will miss going to sideshows booth right away and seeing all the stuff for the first time, in person, and being surprised.

either way, still can't wait to see it in person :rock

I like it, as for the past 2 years I've purchased tix only to return them due to family stuff. :monkey2

I can sympathize with those that regularly attend, though, as I'm sure it's quite the thrill to see the items in person AND pre-order on the spot!

As an attendee, the experience of seeing all that stuff in person for the first time and getting your orders in before everybody else is a really fun and somewhat privileged opportunity. This approach really lessens the impact as an attendee--it will still be fun to see all this stuff I've known about (and had on preorder) for weeks, but the big "kid on Christmas morning" sense of overwhelming revelation at the event itself will be missing this year.
:lecture

I totally agree.

Somewhat to be expected, I think maybe I should have added more options like:

I am attending and like or don't like the new format

I am NOT attending and like ... etc

Of course there is much more to Con than the SS booth, but it is the first stop for many of us; and well I think Tom summed that up best.

I think Josh's point about cutting down on logisitics is a good one, I am sure that the CS girls are relieved at the lower number of yellow papers. :lol

Exactly. It's obvious that Non-Attendees will like this new format. It's for them (and Sideshow).

At least this poll isn't as unnecessary as the one in the DC Comics forum asking if TDK is a "classic" or not. :lol Talk about wagging the dog.

Knowing that nothing that goes up on PO will sell out fast... I am indifferent.

I just hope Sideshow is ready to deal with the folks at the show who are not all keen on the online stuff but are used to being able to PO anything on the floor right there at the show. "Wait List? What? What do you mean this is SOLD OUT???" I wouldn't be surprised is this new format is one-and-done. :lol

As a non-attendee, I'm loving it. But when I go to SDCC next year, I wouldn't mind if Sideshow goes back to the old way of doing it. :D

but how many people that PO at the con really care about the Exclusives??? Those that do are already SS fans and are more than likely already viewing the site daily like most of us.

There is probably a very small percentage of people that go to SDCC that don't know about Sideshow or their online activities. But, how do you know about Sideshow and not know about their online site? There is always going to be new attendees that aren't aware of what's going on, but no one goes into SDCC completely blind. Even as a seasoned attendee there is always something you didn't expect but there wasn't a uproar.

I would be thats the first thing people order when they're ordering be it they know about the site or not. The word exclusive tends to do that.

Have you been to SDCC? It's a different animal altogether. You can throw everything you know and expect out the window.

Thats what I tell friends and folks over at Sandtroopers all the time. Unless you go you can't really imagine how crazy it is.

I think the old way was about 10X more exciting than the way they're doing it this year.

And it has nothing to do with getting the jump on orders at the show or whatever (I've never even taken advantage of that).

Shock and awe approach > the slow burn
